Early fenders?

I found these early fenders and can’t figure out what they are for. They’ve never been installed- and I believe they are teens, as they have no stamped accent lines. Part numbers are there but google failed me. You guys are the smartest folks I know- can anyone help? 

part numbers appear to be 17-N-9107 RH and 17-N-9108 LH

  I'm going to guess that they are 1917 going by the part number. They look like they might be from an odd make such as Chandler? The lack of holes for a headlight bar might be a clue.

Look at 1917 Hupmobile….is there a slight crown to your fenders, or flat?

Stenciled numbers make me think they might be WW1 military spare parts. 

Maybe a truck or ambulance?

That is a model R, introduced 1917. The R had a very long run, so I wouldn't be surprised if those only fit some of the cars out there.

 

Be very careful about ID'ing Hupmobiles via Google images. Both the model and/or year are often wrong. For instance the blue car in the picture is identified all over the Internet as a model N, and it is not. A model N is a larger car and an older design.

 

Even though the radiators look similar, the shape of the cowl and the sloping windshield is are dead giveaways that the blue car is a model R. All model N's have an upright windshield.
