4 cylinder heat characteristics

have a 4 cylinder PA    180 thermostat if out side air is 85 or above   seems to keep motor cool until stop,,,,traffic light !!!!!!      temp seems to go up rather fast and cools down only  after a steady clip if idle too long could go to 195 degrees maybe rad is clogged !!!!!  looking for other experience with these cars

Try changing to a LS1 /160#  stat . The number listed is when it startes to open and may take up to twenty more degrees to reach , full . Get one with by-pass  hole or add your own .

  The factory manual call for 180 degree . BUT that was when they where running alcohol system . If that does not do it your system is restricted . My 160 runs me at 185 +/- .
