John_S_in_Penna
I see that this car is missing its distinctive bullet-shaped taillight lenses. They're one of the most interesting features of '62 Mercuries. It does look like a decent car for someone, though, especially after the front bumper is replated and the steering wheel restored.

John_S_in_Penna
"Multiple offers above asking price!" Seller's ad: "$8500." Prospective buyer calls: "I see you're asking $8500. Will you take $10,000 instead?" Hmmm...
The 55er
You are a very lucky man. I must have sold 40+ collector cars in my life and never ever had anyone offer me a figure ABOVE my asking prices. You are also lucky to be driving the car daily and to have completed a 6-hour road trip without being pulled over at least once by law enforcement for not having any taillights!

The color looks like 1964 Mercury "Bittesweet" or Ford name 'Samoan Coral" . . . . .
