Miguelg510
Hi again, I’m grateful to have a group of professionals who’ve been at this antique car game for a long time and have run into my problems before. I am at my wits end on this damn ‘47 Buick Super passenger vent window frame. I have called yards from New York, to Oklahoma, Idaho, Tennessee, Montana, Philadelphia, etc. etc. since I got this car in July. I bought a 1950 vent window frame off eBay thinking I could message it in some how. (you all know how that turned out). I’m starting to come to the sinking feeling I’m not going to find an original. what do you concours guys do when you run into this problem??? And before you answer, I’m far from rich lol. What are my options here? Thank you for looking at this post.
MCHinson
I am not an expert on this era of Buicks but a little research seems to indicate that 1942-1948 are the same basic body style, so it is likely that those years all use the same vent windows. You might try expanding your search to those other years. Also, Doug Seybold specializes in that era of Buicks. He can likely help you and could at least confirm if those years all use the same vent windows. From an old Hemmings article online, I found this contact information for him: Doug Seybold Restoration Specialists 2761 Clark Parkway Westlake, Ohio 44145 440-835-1193
Fr. Buick
Did you join the Buick Club? They publish a member roster with listings by model and year. You can use that to contact others with the same car. Keep looking!
Miguelg510
Thanks guys, I did get some info from a cool member who showed me years and models that fit, and when I talk to yards I start with “I’m looking for any 1942 to 1948 GM convertible right side vent window”. That same guy told me about Doug but I need the broken parts in hand. I have only the broken bottom, no other parts. Here’s a pic.

Scott Farrington
Do you know if this is the same for other models of the year?

I’d defer to the Buick studs on this forum but from what I understand the vent windows on all GM convertibles from 42 to 48 are the same.
