Neal with an a
Looking for a good transmission for a 1941 Buick Special series 40. Anyone know of any out there?
auburnseeker
Is a 1940 the same? Where are you located?
Neal with an a
No I don’t believe they are. I’m in Oswego NY
auburnseeker
That's a shame I think my dad has a spare and is in Long Lake NY so not too far away for a pickup. Could even bring to my place in Lake George if it was easier. Double check just in case.
Neal with an a
After checking my parts manual it appears as though they may be the same. It would have to be for a series 40 or 50. Do you know what series tranny it is?
auburnseeker
I'm almost positive it was from a Special. I'll try to verify over the weekend, as it's my Dad's. It's a spare that he's not going to need.
Neal with an a
I really appreciate it. I am hoping it is the right one. I will be in Inlet on Sept 26 & 27 so it would work out well if it’s the right one. Thanks and hope to hear from you soon.

Anyone know of any out there? Mounts were redesigned for 1941. Buick cast extra holes in the case right below the belhousing for the wide trans mount to bolt to. 1940 wont have a place to bolt rear mount. '41 up to '49 should have that casting. Best to check parts book for the years the trans mount fits to know how far up trans will fit.
MCHinson
I would suggest you contact Dave Tacheny. He is likely to have one. You can best reach him by calling 763-427-3460 between 4 and 7 pm Central. He specializes in 1936-1941 Buick parts.

Neal with an a
I would still like it if Auburnseeker would check on the 40 transmission it has the same gears as 41 and could still be of use to me.
critterpainter
Bobs Automobilia has about every part you would need for that transmission and sometimes has rebuilt ones in stock but they go fast. Knows those transmissions very well 805-434-2963
Neal with an a
I’ve already purchased a few tranny parts from them, thanks for the reply though.
