Spinneyhill
I have inherited this from my father's collection. What on earth is it? The leather seal is black and it smells of old grease. The case is clean inside so maybe it has never been used. It is uniformly rusty all over, except for the nozle, which is a narrow slit and appears to be brass. The body is probably tin plated steel. Cylinder length from bottom seam to rounded top is 88 mm = just less than 3.5". Edited August 16, 2019 by Spinneyhill (see edit history)
keiser31
Looks to be a very vintage cake or pastry decorating item for trim/flowers. Probably came with different tips for different designs. Edited August 16, 2019 by keiser31 (see edit history)
Spinneyhill
Thanks for your response. That is what I was thinking, but it doesn't smell like butter or icing inside - it smells like grease.
lump
Quote I would guess that any "gun" like this which would work well with frosting or icing, would be a helpful tool in the shop when filled with grease. Kind of like "borrowing" your wife's colander from her kitchen cabinet for dipping greasy parts into a bucket of kerosene. LOL 3
