padgett
What size is the plastic fuel line from the filter to the engine on a 1990 Reatta ? Mine somehow became nicked/leaking.
jonlabree
Mine is steel.
2seater
Mine isn't at home but the majority is steel with a flexible hose or similar down above the filter?

padgett
OK I must be imagining the black plastic line under the driver's door that is spraying gasoline when the engine is running.

Could that be the return line from the regulator to the tank?
padgett
Could be anything that has fuel under pressure. Just know I must fix about a 1/4" blowout. Guess I'll just have to "get out and get under".
harry yarnell
Yes it's plastic (nylon?) and it can be spliced. Done it many times were the squirrels chew on it. Not sure of the size; 5/16 maybe. Spices are barbed nipples that you heat srink on.

harry yarnell
It's plastic the whole way on mine. Now I'm not so sure. I went to look at the '90, and the lines in the engine bay are steel. Too damn cold here to crawl under to check. I DO remember getting a replacement plastic line from Jim years ago. 2seater
Page 6C-4 in the FSM states the fuel and return are both 5/16" id., plastic. I found this in the PDF's that were so kindly posted by AZvet

NCReatta
Just to clear up some confusion.... On 1990 and 1991 Reattas, the lines are stainless steel starting at the fuel rail and going to about halfway down the incline where they go towards the back of the car. On a coupe, this is where the fuel filter is located. Padgett is presumably working on his 1990 convertible. On the convertibles, they transition from stainless to plastic at the same point. HOWEVER, if you've owned a convertible, you know that the fuel filter is located just in front of the drivers rear wheel. '88 and '89 Reattas are a whole different beast when it comes to fuel lines. You can buy kits to splice GM plastic fuel lines together. They're not cheap, but they work well.

padgett
Now that I know it is 5/16 I have a splice kit coming.
padgett
Well I bought a Dorman 800-012 barbed splice from Amazon, cut out the nicked section and shoved the two pieces together Really Hard (over at least three barbs on either side) seems to be working fine. BTW on my 90 'vert there under the mid-back door area, there are two 5/16 plastic fuel lines
