Does anyone know how to value old original vintage pamphlets, brochures, Instruction handbooks?
My now past dad left me with a bunch of pristine original brochures and more from his time as a car salesman in Stockholm, Sweden. Most of the material is in pristine condition where only a couple have had silverfish nibbling on a couple of page edges + not affecting the overall material.

What I got is this pristine brand new condition covering 1940-1950's
* Volvo L245 (1949) Instruction book (never opened),
* Volvo PV 60 1947 Hand drawn pamphlet covering the entire range,
* Volvo Diesel L245 Series Specifications brochure,
* Dodge News Volume 12 Issue 1,
* Dodge News Volume II issue 6,
* New Dodge "The Smoothest Car Afloat 1946,
* The Beautiful Chrysler With Gyrol Fluid Drive 1946,
* The New Chrysler DeSoto America's Newest New Car (full range from 1946),
* Chrysler Windsor & Windsor De Luxe (unsure about year - Probably 1946-49), but beautiful hand drawn pictures covering the full range),
* Chrysler New Yorker, Custom Imperial, Crown Imperial (unsure about year - Probably 1946-49), but beautiful hand drawn pictures covering the full range),
* Chrysler The Windsor, The New Yorker 1946 - Hand drawn illustrations covering the entire range for the year,
* The Triumph Sports hand drawn specs covering all models 1945,
* A bunch of Plymouth brochures and other materials (What's New since 1942? It's Plymouth, Plymouth 1954 (hand drawn illustrations of all models),
* Motorette,
* Standard 8 (1954) - Hand drawn illustrations of all models
* Standard Commercial Vehicles (Standard 12 CWT Delivery Van & The Standard Pick-Up Truck (1953)
* Standard VANGUARD (1953)
* ANA News Special Number Covering news about Standard 8 - the new Family vehicle in the lowest price range
* GOLIATH Model 1954 (beautiful hand drawn illustrations of the range)

Also have a brand new Trailer Tour map of the United States from 1947 - never opened with a price tag of $25c

Haven't had time to take any pictures of what I got, but wonder if anyone know where I could go to get this properly valued - this is a true treasure for any collectors and restorer

Tried to attached a 16 page pfd document showing pics of the treasure I just found, but this forum refuse pdf formats for some obscure reason :( - Not going through the hassle of posting 20-30 high res pics here

Put them in separate auctions on Ebay starting at $10 each and let the bidders determine their value. Good luck....

Thought of doing that, but would like to put a bottom end price rather than risk giving it away - I feel this would be a true gem for any genuine collector out there and as such I;d like to get some idea of its value to begin with

Tried to find anything similar but failed - not sure if what I have is unique (after all it was specific dealership brochures passed to my dad selling cars at the time) = Guessing that the "Dodge News" was some closed group dealership magazine to educate dealers - typical kind of mag that ended up in the bin once read - but nice illustrations throughout - Really struggling with making sense of the true or ball park $ value of the stuff - One New Jersey Vintage car museum have shown interest, but want me to put a $ on it - difficult when I dont have a clue really :(

Added just a sample of what I got

Some are rarer than others.

If you want to see true value,  start them cheap,  (almost all mine except a few very large ones in really nice shape start at 2.99 and the rest start at 3.99 to 4.99) no reserve and let them run all listed individually.  Photograph every page , mention any significant flaws.  Many won't bring 10,  some may bring alot more. It depends on the day of the week,  time of day,  how the planets align, etc.

Ebay is full of brochures no body buys for 10.  you need to start them cheaper to get interest so even the dealers get in on the game.  It isn't an auction if only one guy is interested.

Some of these I have never had,  but I haven't been selling that long and every day I find stuff I have never had.  Ironically sometimes followed by another purchase with the exact same pieces in it,  the next day.

If you limit your sales to the USA only,  your final prices will probably be alot lower.  I have foreign buyers that pay the most for some,  especially foreign brochures.

Early 50's Mopar stuff is about as hot as the cars themselves and rarely sell for much over 10.  1940's is a little better.  Combined shipping is very important as well.  I often send 20 to 40 brochure shipments out.  Infact I have 3 to put together right now.  All from customers I have built a relationship with.  They often pay more knowing they are getting the shipping deal and the type of service they will receive.

Most customers are great,  some make you want to throw em all in a barrel and light it up.

Ah the joys of ebay.

Good luck.

Here is a link to one of my auctions for a 41 Chrysler piece.  One bidder one watcher,  3 days in with  the opening bid of 2.99.

I have a few pieces of this era listed and some that sold in the recent past if you look under completed.

As a lot it's something I would normally if asked to make an offer on would usually try to buy at around 5.00 a piece but taking them all at that.  Newer stuff unless it's muscle car I try to buy at 3.00 or under.  You don't make money over paying for merchandise to sell and ebay gets a nice 15 %  chunk including the shipping cost. so on a 5.00 brochure with 5.00 shipping ebay gets 1.50 so you actually get 3.50 for that one.

It's all just numbers.

Tried to sent you a 16 page pdf showing what I got but the forum prevents me from sending that format = If you pm me with a proper email address I would be happy to send you what I compiled into this pdf and perhaps you see something that stands out - I am really struggling with getting a feel of this!
