kreed
I have just removed my valves covers on my 66 to repaint and wondering what the consensus is on two things as I replace my gaskets : 1. Is any type of sealant recommended for cork gaskets and if so where do you put it ? Between cork and cover ? 2. Should bolts be torqued ? If so , how much . Understand that they can be easily over torqued on cork gaskets Sorry for these elementary questions but internet is confusing and I trust the guys on our forum much more . Thanks KReed ROA 14549

Seafoam65
If Fel Pro offers rubber gaskets for your application, use the rubber gaskets not cork......and glue the gaskets to the covers with yellow 3M weatherstrip adhesive and install the covers with no additional sealers. Don't forget to re-torque after several run cycles.
