harry yarnell
I should know this, but I'm getting old and forgetful. What's are the usual suspects when you don't have dash buttons and consol lights at night? 110v inverters? Photocell? Headlight switch? I thought the photocell was used for Twilight Sentinel, which the Reatta doesn't have.
KDirk
If all the switch/instrumentation backlighting is inoperative and the cluster/CRT don't dim for nighttime operation with the park or headlamps on, the photocell is the most likely suspect. There are two 110v inverters, one for the upper dash (headlamp and wiper switch pods) one for the console (window and mirror switches and the gear shift indicator). Everything else is incandescent bulbs (the four buttons on the cluster and the console lamp retract/fog lamp switches) except the legend backlights around the 6 hard function buttons on the CRT. These are powered from an inverter internal to the CRT unit. All the above are ultimately controlled by the same common output from the BCM. Even though the Reatta doesn't have twilight sentinel, the photocell is still used to establish the outside light level which controls when the switch and instrumentation backlighting is enabled, as well as the auto-dimming of the digital cluster and CRT so they aren't as harsh to look at in the dark. DAVES89
If you have to go into the dash be sure to make a dash panel puller tool or cracks in the dash will be in your future!
