captndan Posted June 30, 2017 Posted June 30, 2017 What was the original color for the engine 1926 Chrysler 4 cylinder. Probable a Maxwell engine.
oily rag Posted June 30, 2017 Posted June 30, 2017 The engine would be black with a silver head and probably a Chrysler engine, unless someone put an older engine in it. The Chrysler 4s were only based on the Maxwell design. 1

viv w Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 When I rebuilt my 1928 4 cyl model 52 about 35 years ago, I saw an article, I think, in the WPC club magazines, that the engines on 4 cyl cars were brick red and the 6cyl cars engines were black. The only mention of cylinder heads being a different color was if it had a silver dome the head would be silver and if it was a redhead motor the head was painted red. I think the 4 cyl motors were all one color. I stand to be corrected. Regards Viv.
