Derek Feagin
Anyone have any ideas on this one?
auburnseeker
Are there any numbers on the hinge? Might be the best chance. I think the last external hinges on production cars in the US were 49-51 Fords. The style of the lid looks kind of GM to me though. Looks like the trunk handle didn't have a base plate just went through the ferrule. Early 40's GM i think used that style. Pontiac and Olds. All wild guesses to get started in the right direction. Curti
I think 40 Chevy , by the remains of the hinge.
auburnseeker
If that's so, I was pretty close. If it's Chevy it should have a GM probably part number cast into the hinge. You could probably nail it down from that.
D Yaros
The shape of the trunk handle outline says Buick to me?
Mark Simmons
I'm with Curti on this. I've owned several 40's Chevy's and it looks to be 40 through 48 trunk lid. That said it could also be from another GM division of the same era.
