62 Rambler head rest options?

I'm seeing a very nice looking 62 Rambler Classic on Ebay. I noticed the drivers seat has no head rest and the passenger side has one. Could you actually get that from the factory? I can't say I've ever seen such a thing.

I think this is factory.  With AMC offering reclining seats it makes since.  Who wants the driver going to sleep down the road!

Yeah the ad said it was fresh nos skins. Nice car and 4 doors plus Rambler makes for a good drivers deal. I suppose the rest was considered just for comfort and not safety.

We had an extremely low mileage (1,056 mile) 1962 Rambler Classic "400" 4-door sedan with reclining seats, and with brackets in a paper bag in the glove box. The "U"-shaped rubber encased brackets wold be installed into slots below the rear seat cushion to support the reclining front seat backs to make the car into a bed. Either side coold be operated independently.

 

Ours did not have the head rest, but another option was the reclining seat whi, as I recall, also elevated the passenger's legs
