ArticiferTom
Remember the rubber hose is an insulator measure temp at top of rad should match block above 140* as stat opens .

Grimy
I convert to modern stats, always 160* in pre-war cars. MoPaR 318 stats from the early 70s are large diameter. I often have to make a retainer out of 3/16 copper to keep the new stat in position.
nearchoclatetown
Measure the outside diameter and then go to a real parts store. A sbc thermostat fits my '29 DB and works the way it should.

ArticiferTom
Measure your recessed opening . Go to NAPA site ,search thermostat , pick non fitted . My BOI says to start opening at 140 degrees .finish 180 . Pick opening start 140 .search , then diameters will be listed . easy peesy . 36 minutes ago, Graham Goetze said: Could anyone advise me on a suitable and currently obtainable thermostat or my 1931 Plymouth PA 4-cyl. Graham Goetze
Thanks Tom, I'll do that. BTW I'm in Cape Town, South Africa, so might not have access to as many parts as you do.
Graham Goetze
Well that didn't work. When I try to get onto the NAPA online service, all I get is 'Access Forbidden' !
ArticiferTom
Sorry about that . If you pm me the measurement. I will get you a part number . Then you can ebay or work from there . 5 hours ago, Graham Goetze said: Well that didn't work. When I try to get onto the NAPA online service, all I get is 'Access Forbidden' !
