1951 Buick Special 41D for sale

I was a part of the original mission with Roy Faries to rescue this car from where it was sitting outside near San Antonio. I'm pleased to see the improvements that you have made, and what a great "patina" the car has. The miles are original, and except for the floor rust which is repairable with the new pans, it is just a wonderful old Buick. I hope someone in the BCA will continue to love and improve it.

Detail that I considered "too much" for a c-list ad:

New/rebuilt mechanical items:
- New Coker Bias-ply Wide-whitewall tires (correct original size)
- Replaced 1 wheel rim, and acquired a 5th rim to provide a spare
- Had all 5 wheel rims blasted and powder coated
- New Radial spare tire
- New gas tank and fuel level sender by Tanks, Inc.
- Re-cored radiator with modern high-density core
- New battery
- Added Juliano's seat belts in the back seat for the kids
- Rebuilt fuel/vac pump by Then N Now
- New fuel line from tank to engine pump
- New brake master cylinder; new brake wheel cylinders all around
- New brake hoses
- Electric fuel pump (to refill carb when it evaporates out - no vapor lock problem)
- Rebuilt carburetor with new parts from The Carburetor Shop
- Replaced cracked exhaust manifold
- New spark plugs, plug wires, ignition coil
- New hood release cables

Improved/redone/restored/replaced vintage trim items:
- Replaced trunk handle/emblem with better chrome and painted the emblem
- Replaced the trunk handle "DYNA" "FLOW" lenses with better
- Replaced the hood ornament with better
- Replaced the hood emblem "Buick crest" and painted it
- Replaced sun visors (the swivel fittings were worn out)
- Replaced dash knobs with fresher chrome
- Shined up bumpers, grille surround, and stainless side trim
- Found better '51 hubcaps, shined them up and repainted the "BUICK" lettering
- Replaced tail light / turn signal trim with one NOS and one lightly used
- Replaced radiator core support, incorrect radiator, and radiator lower splash pan with correct vintage parts to un-do an unoriginal older "repair"

Other considerations:
- Fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, charge/discharge gauges all working.
- High beam indicator / turn signal dash indicators all working.
- Speedometer / odometer not working.
- Original bumper jack is with the car.
- Engine runs great; no smoke.
- All exterior lights work - for nighttime cruising
- Dash lights work
- Generator / voltage regulator working
- Radio not working
- Haven't tested glove box light or trunk light
- Stock dash controls for under-dash air vents all working
- Heater/defroster cores bypassed (haven't tried/tested these, so don't know if they're good or not)
- Brakes straight ahead; no pull; healthy brake shoes
- Horn on under-dash switch - I replaced the horn button/ring but no luck there, but the horns are there & working
- Glove box has original "I fixed it" latch from prior owner...
- All windows open/close as they should
- Cracked left rear vent window
- Wipers not working, but easy to have rebuilt see wiperman.com
- Floors are weak mostly in front of back seat - I have specific patch panels for this area. Front floor might just use some sheet stock patches.
- Body is solid everywhere - even typical weak areas like trunk floor, rockers, etc.
- Remaining items not installed, but I will include: Front seat "robe cord" and seat lower side trim parts; trunk liner boards (3 pieces). With that, I believe 100% of original parts are there.

Still available. Adjustment to the offer - I keep the 5 red rims w/ tires & hubcaps, and include 4 "roller" rims & used tires for $4800.

3 of these rims are 5.5", 1 is 6.0. Retain one of those for the spare when you add the 4 rims you prefer...

It's still driven twice weekly.

The c-list ad is expired, but I'll be reposting it soon...

Sold! Looking back on this, it took longer than I thought. Went to a local guy, so I'll probably see it again.

He's absolutely not painting it or swapping out the engine...

But it might be lowered just a little in the rear... And get a dual exhaust...
