Fog lights on whenever key is on,even with switch removed

I have studied the schematic in the fsm and I can't figure it out. Whenever the key is on all the marker lights, the amber light in the headlight switch comes on. I sent the switch to Jim Finn after I pushed the fog Light button too hard and he replaced it. When there was no headlight switch I noticed the fog lights were on. On the schematic I cant see how the lights can be backfed some how. My next thing is to turn the key on and start pulling fuses one at a time. The fog light relay checks good on the bench. It could be relay "B" sticking (it also looks like my computer has something set that put a line thru everything I type.... any one know what is causing it?)

The other possibility is somehow the option has been set for the fog lamps to operate as daylight running lamps (required in Canada)

Go to section 8D-17 in the FSM and look at BS06 option settings, you car should have the number (128 + 16) 144 as the setting.   If you want them as daylight running lamps

change them to the Export setting of 32 (it may be 32 +16)

Thank you Barney,after I checked the relay (no difference) I tried a known good BCM, still no change. Even with the B relay in my hand when I turn the key to run the fog and clearence lights come on. Tomorrow I will check the export mode. Thanks for your time,

Ps I know have a spare BCM for my spare parts box.

I have found some unknown characters when I hit symbols twice by mistake, maybe one of them is a line. Good luck.

Look at the line of characters above the reply box. The fourth one over is Strkethrough, which is what you have accidentally clicked on.Here is what happens when you click on that one... Here is what it looks like when you click on it again to turn it off.

 

Bold Italic Underline Strikethrough _subscript ^superscript are the six options found in text atributes just above the reply box.  With a misplaced click you can do some weird stuff with text.

You need to know if the fog lights are powering the other lights or the other lights are powering the fog lights. To determine that start by removing the fog light breaker #22 and see if all the lights they go off. Report your results  here..

Barney seems to have the same issues I have with the forum, I never had this issue prior to the upgrade, and I know for a fact that the issues are not occuring by accidentally hitting anything. To the best of my knowledge, the forum software has no spell checking function. Your particular device or browser software may or may not have spell checking abilities. There are way too many potential browser and hardware settings that can impact that for anybody to easily tell you how to get the spell checking functionality that you are looking for.

The only explanation that I have for an individual user having strange text issues is either an errant accidental click (much more common on some of the newer smaller devices some people use now) or else a problem with some obscure software setting on their particular machine. We recently had a member who discovered that he could no longer log into the forum. We tried everything we could to get him back on. He finally took his computer to an IT specialist who reloaded a couple of pieces of software on his computer and resolved the issue. 

 

I seem to remember Barney having a couple of separate and distinctly different text issues lately. I don't know if it is user error or some hardware or software gremlin in his computer but I am convinced it is not an issue with the forum software.

Thank you for your rapid response to my question.

There was a spell check function on the previous Forum platform and I miss it dearly.

I just thought that maybe there was a way to enable it on this "new" Forum and I just couldn't find it.

Now, I just cut and paste my more "wordy" posts to MS Word to spell check it then cut and paste it back into the reply box.

If I start out knowing that it’s going to be a long one, I'll just start it in Word and correct as I go. For shorter posts, if I'm not sure of a word, I'll cut and paste it in the Google search box and hit enter to get the correct spelling.
