Again I'm a New Buick Owner of a 1936 Buick.

Ok saying that I found out at the BCA Nationals in Springfield,Mo. last week our car is missing the Flippers on top of the rear doors. Could any one HELP me find some or One that I could see to get demintgtion so could have some made. I understand the bases are a cast and the arm part is curved. I believe 1936 and 1937 could be the same ( But Not Sure ). Bob's has them for Later year models and he has the Springs. Any kelp would appreciate.

Thanks

are flippers the rain deflector? About 6 inches in length and 2 inches wide at widest point? Know my restored 36 model 40 has them but not sure I have extra set. I assume you do not know exact dimensions?

No they are on the Rear doors on rear top of the door and when you roll the windows down these go down with the window and cover up the opening left because the window is curve at the rear. The front top part of the window frame is flat and it close the front part of the door top. These Flippers and the flat part of the window frames close up the hold top of the opening so nothing can fall in side of the door.

Bud,

I took these shots with the cell phone camera when driving a friend's daughter to her wedding Saturday.

Hope this helps.

I will measure the 1941 Caddy conv coupe's "flippers" when I can get to the car in about 10 days - 2 weeks - to see if they are comparable.

That's what you get when you have those high end cars--never seen before and what a cool touch. Good luck finding-I would assume you have tried Dave Tachney and he is around I talked to him last Friday.

First I don't appreciate the comment " That's what you get when you have those high end cars " But I Feel Very Blessed to be the Care Taker of this High End Car ( as you put it ) and it's proud Owner. I just trying to put the car back with its Original Parts. I also Appreciate all the help the people on the Forums have given me since I've been on here. I have tried to call Dave Tachney and will keep trying to get him he will answer eventually.

Would anyone know if any other brand cars had these same rear door flippers. Like Cadillac , Oldsmobile , Packard , Pontiac of same year or years. I know Marty is looking at his Cadillac for me to see if they are the same. I know 1938 Buick and Newer are different the Arm part is Straight and these are Curved. Just maybe there are other brands that use the same ones ?

Thanks

Bud,

I am in Northern Illinois and Wisconsin this week, but there is a couple on our tour with a 1941 Cadillac convertible coupe like mine. I will see if I can get a photo of his car's  "Flippers", and determine if they are straight or curved, and the length (I do not have a ruler with me).

I will get back with you ASAP.

Certainly my intent was not to disparage but was a compliment. I an sorry if offensive.

Do hope you have success in finding as often those odd pieces are the most difficult to locate.. I would think Dave would be a good source.

Thanks ! and Yes I've talk to Dave Tachney he could only remember having one (1) of them ever. But he can't remember ever selling it though. He does think that 1936 and 1937 are the same. So if I could find just one or borrow on from someone I could have them made.

Thanks Again

Bud
