TS1992
Hi, I have a '55 buick century hardtop under construction and I have 2 question to ask.First one, I'm assembling the heater hoses but I don't find the connection scheme on the manual, can someone help me? I have to connect the transmission, the underseat heater and the 3 water pump nipples, maybe a draw can be very helpful on red are the hoses that I've already installed, other connection are missing.Second answer, I need to replace the part on the photo but I don't know the name in english (my mother language is italian ), it's located behind the front seat bench, there are some replica on sale? Thank you very much Greetings from Switzerland
Joseph P. Indusi
The part covering the end of the robe cord is called a Robe Cord Escutcheon, Group # 11.878, and for 1955 Buick Century Part # 4605687 and interchanges with Pontiac, Oldsmobile and Chevrolet. This assumes your car is Model 66R (Riviera). I will try to post the diagram for the hose routing but if I fail there are others on this forum who will post it. Good Luck, Buona Fortuna. TS1992
Thank you very much for the detailed answer, the diagram is perfect. Grazie mille!Yes, my Buick is a 66R, but seems to be a hard part to find, for the moment I only found one seller that has this part and it's quite expensive as I need 4 of them.Grazie mille e buona giornata. Thank you a lot and have a nice day.Tim
old-tank
http://www.buickrestorer.com/heaterhose/heaterhose.htmnote that the hoses to the oil cooler on a 55 are 78 inches long.Willie
Joseph P. Indusi
Good catch Willie on the 1955 oil cooler hoses.Joe
TS1992
Mine is without power steering so I have to cut them 74" right? Thank you for the note Willie
Joseph P. Indusi
The length of the transmission cooler lines have nothing to do with wether the car has power steering or not. I believe the 1954 cars with Dynaflow automatic transmission used 74 inch length hoses for the oil cooler but on the 1955 they used 78 Inch length hoses.Willie will know for sure but think what I wrote here is correct.Joe, BCA 33493

Bhigdog
Start with 80" and cut to fit. End of problem.................Bob
TS1992
Right, is better more than less
Bhigdog
The best way is to buy what you need, plus 4 feet or so. Start with the longest run and cut to fit. Throw any remains into your left over pile where it will sit un-needed until 3 days after you finally throw it out..............Bob
buick5563
Even if you cut to those measurements, there is always 3" too much on each hose except maybe the shorty anyway.
Paul Falabella
I did this job over this winter. Got a 50 ft. roll. I precut all the pieces about 6-8 inches longer than noted in the chart and glad I did. Easier to hack off a few inches than making a new piece. I think I used about 33-34 feet total on a 55 Roadmaster.
