Ron Lawson
Thank you Mike That is some very interesting history there My 2249 Senior 6 has a Gemmer Steering box I have just recently recond the box with new bushes and some machining to fit a modern seal in the sector shaft housing The article that was posted several years ago "Hot Rodding A Gemmer Steering Box" was very helpful What was once a very well worn box is now as good as new Ron

Mkgage
The machinery used by Gemmer to manufacture steering boxes was sold to a company in South America. The Franklin Club contacted this company and they have manufactured the internal parts for about 100 Gemmer Boxes used on 1930 and 1931 Franklins. MikeC5
Interesting.. When I had my '25 DB steering box apart I checked to see if a modern seal could be adapted to the sector shaft. The long brass bushing (also used for gear mesh adjustment) has a spiral lubricant groove running end to end which provides a very nice leak path...
