Hello,

Can anyone out there help me ID this buick using these frame rail tag numbers? The tag was located on the front right frame rail facing outwards. Thank you. ( It is also for sale) I just have the chassis. Maybe a cowl.

Thank you very much

The number - and the car's appearance and the fact that it has a straight eight engine make it a 1931 car. Measure the wheelbase to identify the series. Series 50 - 114", Series 60 - 118", Series 80 - 124", Series 90 - 132". If that is all there is of it it looks to be a good candidate for a speedster project. If the tyres are 5.25 x 18 then it is likely a Series 50. The bigger series cars used 19s.

The book Standard Catalog of Buick 1903- 2000 Edited by Kowalke (1999) lists the ID data for 1931 as follows. Serial numbers on right side of frame behind front fender openings Starting 2460544 ending 2602731. Engine numbers on the crankcase starting 2624638 ending 2751921. Total model year production 138,965 cars. 1931 was the first year with the Buick straight 8. Hope this helps.

Cheers

Thanks to the Forum and a quick head's up call from Dwight, Ernie, the owner, and I shook hands on the deal over the phone and closed the deal. I will make arrangements with my nephew this afternoon for a pick up soon. It is only 250 miles away.

I will be scouting for fenders and a body.

Members of the Northwestern Ohio Chapter should have some knowledge of the car before it was diis-assembled. I would appreciate any memories.

I like the speedster look of the earlier cars like Dwights. They have a lower radiator and it blends with the abbreviated body better. Last year there was a yellow later model speedster style a guy was pedaling on Ebay. It looked like farm equipment.

This chassis is quite clean and complete. I think the mechanical s will be straight forward to refurbish. I already have feelers out for an original replacement body. We can fabricate a tourer body of the Invicta/Railton stile with Buick fenders. The speedster I'd like would be finding an abandoned Auburn replica project. We'll see; the Park Ave may martyr itself for funding. Its the only one with a deviant engine position.

Hello Bernie,

Would you be interested in selling the wheels? I am driving a Series 50 with no spare now....let me know. Heck, would you sell the chassis like it is??? I am interested.

Barry,

I will not be parting out the chassis but selling it as a whole.

There is an ad in the classified section of this forum and Cleveland, Ohio craigslist.

Thanks,

Ernie
