Vintage Metalic Water Pump Packing Metalpac | eBayUsually, it is a soft metal covering a graphite rope. I have never had a problem with the old stuff. Brian_Heil Posted August 15, 2013 Share Posted August 15, 2013 I bought the graphite impregnated packing from Restoration Supply Co. Baloney cut each end on a 45 angle and make a 'donut'. I used the 1/4 cross section packing and put ~ 4 donuts in each end.After trying several types of packing (including the leather shoe lace that was in one end) this graphite impergnated stuff really works. I bought a spool of this stuff at Chickasha one year for $5.00. There must be at least 2 - 3 hundred feet of the stuff. I repacked the pumps on my '20 and '22 and they haven't dripped a drop since.
