RickBrinker
When i turn the headlights on the gauge goes all the way on discharge.Talked to Rodger he's never heard this one before,he said it might be losing its polarity when I step of the starter it polarizes it again ??????????? Machinist_Bill
Let's think about this for a minute.......It charges at an idle but the second you increase engine RPM it quits charging.....You turn on the headlights and it quits charging......You hit the starter switch and it starts charging and then all of the above happens again....Sounds like any amperage draw kicks it out and the starter switch "Resets" the kicked out generator portion. Could your "Electronic switch" have a glitch???
platt-deutsch
Had the same thing. Changed out the Starter/Gen and is fine now. I suspect grounded field coil..Old one is still in the shop. I will take it apart and test it out when I get time..
