Paul Falabella
The round hood insulator things(sombreros) are available but I can't find the thin steel bars anywhere. Anyone know a source or home made remedy? Closeup photo of an installation? Thanks
buick5563
I have a couple for the small series, but they may be different lengths than for the big series cars.If one of you Roady owners can post pics and lengths I may be able to help you out. Paul Falabella
I am assuming a contact adhesive should be used as well.
buick5563
Yep. The rods don't really do that much if it is glued on well. I ran my car without em for years, not knowing there was supposed to be "something" there.

packick
Paul: I just went through this issue with my '55 Century over the past winter. I purchased the insulation from RubbertheRightWay in San Diego and am quite happy with it; purchased the "sombreros" from CARS; the rear rod I found on eBay; and the front rod was sent to me by another forum reader. I glued the insulation pad to the hood with a 3M adhesive spray I found at one of the big box home centers. I sprayed it on both the inslulation and the hood, then took a rolling pin to it to make sure it was "seated" in all places. Oh, I had the hood off the car when I did this.It is hard to get a picture of the installed front rod so I am including a picture of it on the ground. Also here is a picture of my rear rod installed. Hope this helps. Edited April 10, 2013 by packick Enter key for spacing won't work on this site with my other computer. (see edit history)
