Bill Jewell
First, I want to thank everyone for the continued help!I am working on a 1930 Franklin which has a leaking rear brake cylinder. The car was completely restored about 12 years ago. I have obtained a hub puller that is wide enough to fit the wheel lug pattern. I have it on the car and have cranked it down very hard but the hub just is not budging. I have tried hitting the brake drum with a hard rubber mallet but that has no affect. Any thoughts on how I can get this brake drum off? Thanks!Bill
ply33
If it is anything like the Chrysler product cars of that era, you will need more than a rubber mallet to budge it. I use a small hand sledge and I know others that use an impact wrench.
keiser31
A rubber mallet will NOT do the job. It will absorb the shock and you don't want the hammer to do that. You need a big, steel sledge.
Curti
Bill, go back and reread your other post on the same subject. Your answer lies there!
