1936 Dodge Coupe door locks

That is very typical of nearly every brand of car back in that era. Watch an old movie and you'll notice they'll often get in the passenger side and slide across the seat...

Not sure why. I've heard it was for safety reasons to get people to enter and exit the car from the curb side. Seems like it might also have been a cost savings measure too.

My Coupe only has a door lock installed on the passenger door. Is this normal? Everything looks stock.

Yes....very normal for the late twenties through the 1930's. The driver's door locks by lifting the interior door handle or pushing it forward. The passenger front door locked from the outside.
