1929 Buick - Restoration and other questions

Hello Everyone.

I recently inherited my grandpa's old 1929 Buick.

I got it home and the wheels moved very easy and the engine is turning. So that is promising.

I have a lot of questions, but i think i'll just bump this thread as i go along with the rebuild.

The first step is to remove the body from the frame and start getting the frame in mint condition.

I hope i'll be done for the 100 year anniversary, so that leaves me with 17 years to get the job done :)

The last trip my grandparents had with the car was just after WW2

The problems that i do know of:

1 tooth missing in the differential.

3 of 4 door handles broken. Think i'll by all 4 new, if i can find.

The shiny list in the back of the hood needs replacing.

The shiny list around the radiator needs re-shinying

Left Rear fender is crooked.

Rust in the spare-wheel-"compartment".

Missing the spare wheel ring.

Missing the spare wheel.

Here are some photos of the old girl:

I can start of with 2 questions:

What kind of buick is this? I have been looking on the web at a lot of photos, but can't get my head around the "model XX"-part.

Is there any projects of a similar car avaible online? Have been searching quite a lot, but have not found any restore-projects of a car that looks like mine.

Nice family car worth keeping. I note you live in Norway

We live in Kongsberg, Norway. (no, we do not have polar-bears in the streets! )

My grandfather died a couple of years ago and his 1929, Model 27 Buick have been sitting in the garage for the last 30 years or so.

My grandmother gave it to me, and i'm going to use a long time on restoring it.

In the Buick Club of America 2011 roster there are 18 1929 model 27's listed as being owned by club members

There are also 31 Norwegian memeber's in the BCA, but none listed as 1929 owner's. (BCA as my link below)

Ruzlebiff, (Sorry you didn't sign your real name)

Your Buick seems to be a 1929 Model 27 with a single side mount spare. My first Buick was this model & is now my son's car. I suggest you join the BCA and also subscribe to Bill McLaughlin's 29 Buick Newsletter. Send me a private message with your direct email address and I will put you in touch.

A photo of the car is below:

Hello again, and thank you for the answers.

First, my name is Sindre :)

I know of BCN and have been thinking about joining them.

I just have to build a new garage for my other cars before i can start working on the buick.

Leif, a regular user of this forum (sweedish guy) have been wery helpfull and have given me a few contact-persons that may have some parts for me.

So i have a Model 27? Thank you :)

Mark Shaw, that's a wonderful car! Do you have any more pictures?

That is really cool!

Hope he takes good care of it :)

Working long days to finish the new garage. As soon as i'm done with it, the body is going off. Looking forward to have a closer look at the frame.

If it is a model 27, I may have a complete rear end for it. The rear end I have is for a 1930 model 47. The two model used a lot of the same parts.
