Klunk sound

I'm restoring a 1983 buick prk ave Question: when I make a turn or pull out from a dead stop when shifting from low there is a clunk like universals yes or no not sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and have a great New Year!!!

I'd start out looking at the Universals, kind of sounds like that. Also how's your ball joints on the car? If one is worn too much and falling apart it too could give you a noise when you turn.

Sounds like a CV Joint to me.

Check for broken sway bar links. Worn universals are common, as noted above.

CV joints were not used for this application.

I guess I misread the year on that one.... I would agree that Universal joints or sway bar would be top two places to check first.

I've owned an '82 Chevy and '86 Olds, and have heard that clunking sound. Usually it's the ball joints. You can get a suspension rebuild kit from p-s-t.com at a fair price.

Piece of advice. Do everything so you only have to do it once. Shocks, ball joints, sway bar, tie rods, etc.

And control arm bushings. Just take the front end pieces off and use a hydraulic press to put the parts on and off. Make life easy like RansomEli says.
