West Peterson
Are you sure it's a Packard trunk?
Guest packard1801
If it is a true Packard trunk , it will have a small nameplate to say so.

West Peterson
Doesn't sound like a Packard trunk. They're usually 38 inches "long". A photo of the inside would help.
Dave Mellor NJ
As Packard1801 stated, Packard put their nameplates on their trunks. It's possible the previous owner took it off a Packard but it wasn't original equipment,or he could have told you that just to make a sale. Either way it probably wouldn't be worth investing a lot of time and money to restore it unless you know for sure what it is. They don't bring that much and are hard to handle

Restorer32
Some appear to have a tag saying Packard but actually say "Pickard".

Friartuck
This seems wider than 36 inches, looks like 38-40 inches wide based purely on optical comparison. If that wide, than right for 31-33 Cadillac or other large Marque. Restoration Specialties (Restoration Supply Company) has a a number of hardware components. Packard trunks I've seen have the blue Packard script emblem nailed on. As for hinges and hasps and other hardware, I suggest the polished stainless steel threaded rivet & brass threaded insert method:http://www.metroccca.org/tech_articles/tech_06_winter.pdfChris Wantuck
