Guest re-reatta
Was at a local estate auction in PA earlier today, where a '79 Riv with 43,000 miles and a 350 under the hood sold for $4600.00. The car was in great shape, but could have used a good detailing to make it shine. The car was green with a white landau roof, with green cloth interior. Was that a reasonable price ?? JZRIV
The seller should be ecstatic to get $4600.

Jolly_John
The green interior and exterior may have worked against this particular car. But, overall I agree with Jayson. The 1979 and 1980 Rivieras seem to be developing more of a following lately, as collectors are realizing these two years still have 350 power to move these heavy cars in a respectable manner....AND that these two years have NO computer controls of any kind. This last factor is a big deal, if you plan to keep one of these Rivieras for some years, and want to tour with it. I have been on long distance Buick tours, when a couple of 1981-85 Rivieras developed runability problems due to ECM and/or computer-controlled carb malfunctioning. The owners pulled into a friendly Buick dealer thinking they could help, and were told "sorry, these are too old for us to work on...any of our guys who used to work on these have retired". This problem will only get worse as the supply of salvage yard ECM and other unique, computerized parts disappears rather rapidly (especially if scrap metal prices remain high). sosuzguy
Not to mention the 81-85 307 survivors can now be released from their emmission positions at this time in their life, well in Texas or a Olds 350 put in it's place. As is the case...oh ah and with the ultra rare trip monitor! Nickey ChicagoJayson
