This was found in a river near McCall, Idaho.

It sure looked to us like it is. Some of what they found was for sure off of old farm equipment. One piece looked like the leg of an old theater seat or maybe a school desk. And there were other items such as are in this pile.

A guy found a bunch of parts like this in a river in Michigan back in 1917. He packaged them all up and sent them to the Ford factory for the scrape drive.

He got a letter back shortly from the Ford Company, "this is the worst wreck that we have ever seen, but we should have your Model T back on the road in two weeks."

Pursuant to the robbery of the Boise First National Bank, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance

Kid managed to heft the safe on a buckboard and made it as far as McCall. Cassidy was

rather cranky that day because the Kid had brought along his 11 year old nephew on the job.

Having made as far as the river near McCall, Cassidy yelled to Sundance to bring him a pry

bar. All Sundance could find was the piece that you have pictured. He said, "you call

this a (expletive deleted) pry bar?" He then threw it in the river. That is the piece you

found, according to the nephew, who related the story in the 1970s, before his passing.

I willl pass this story on to my step-son who will love it. He says that they are going to go back and see what else they can drag up. :D

I have long been a fan of the movie Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. "Don't ever hit your mother with a shovel, it leaves a dull impression on her mind." Sung by Paul Newman.
