pphil
now the storyI found this car about 1 mile from my house the guy that owned it was trying to fix it up etc...but money became a problem and he parked it in his back yard.a couple of years later metro code enforcement told him to fix it or get rid of itand since i had moved he didnt know how to find me.so he sold it the new owner placed an add on e-bay where i found it.i won the auction but the reserve was not met so i asked if i could come and see the car.I checked the going rate for these cxars and went to see him.the car was in sad shape as it had sat under a tree for i donrt know how many years and the front and back glass both leaked.I could see some rust under the vynal top and the paint was faded but the #'s matched and it only had 44,000 miles.I asked what he was expecting to get for the car and he quoted 6500.00well i said i could not even come close to that number and started to leave and he asked me to make an offer......i bought the car for 2500.00 and drove it homethen the work startedfirst the radatior was leaking so a new one was orderedneeded a new fan shroud etc....cte... etc....i parted out my 64 wildcat (because of a spun bearing in a new motor)and got enough to have the 70 paintedI found someone to paint the car and it was MY understanding that the new top was included but i found out later i was mistakena 6 week paint job turned into 6 monthswhen i was told to come and get it as it was DONE all the side trim was still off the car and some emblems were lost or brokenbut the paint looked real nice(the body work was GREAT)the car was straight as an arrow i got the top done a couple of months laterfinally found the right clips to replace the side trimfound most emblems etc...etc...running wiselast year was the first time i ever went down the track and the car did a terrible 16.2 1/4 mileinstralled a new converter and dropped the time to 15.3 installed the posi carrier and my new best of 15.1 (and i let off early) hoping for a 14.? this year.not bad for a 40 year old motor with 50,000 miles on herin the future i have a set of ported stage 1 heads ,a B4B intake and a new cam waiting it install but as with anything else money is a factor...scott

jonahboo
careful w/ the steel wool - it can do damage
Smartin
0000 steel wool won't harm the chrome on those bumpers. I make sure I have a wad of it in the car when I go to shows and events...for touch up purposes. You'll be happy with the 288-94H, but I have a feeling you'll want more by the end of the season:D:D:D:D
MrEarl
Beautiful car and some excellent work. the seats are gorgeous and I am sure took a skilled and experienced upholsterer to do. I have never noticed or paid that much attention to the side trim on these cars. I love that sweep spear, the way it is broken at the rear, then continues up and over the rear wheel. Really cool!!!thanks for sharing all the photos and the story.
pphil
well i found the holy grail for the full size 70's but when it came in it looked like thisbut the missing pieces were still in the boxand yes it does have two cracks in the housing so with a little super glue we getnow a question is there a gasket that goes behind these emblems ?????as the emblem housing sets off the bumper about a 1/16th of an inch...scott
