Guest ghostrider
Would like to know what this part is for since it came out of a box of old parts with a 52 oldsmobile I just purchased.
Larry Schramm
Does the top unscrew? If so would appear to be some sort of a grease cup

Joseph P. Indusi
Fits on top of fuel pump for certain 1950's GM cars. Used as some kind of air purge or pressure equalizer.Joe
Erndog
I would say a pressure surge volume (forget the exact name) to absorb pressure fluctuations, like experienced with water hammering.

Guest ghostrider
Thanks to the Thanks.........The "what is it forum" solved my question and I might end up using it on the new Olds double diaphragm fuel pump in the future if necessary to avoid pressure surges. Richard Lichtfel
It appears to be a shock arrestor, there is a diaphram on the inside and it has a 1/2 inch pipe thread that will thread into a T in the plumbing system. They are required in plumbing systems to absorb the shock from solenoid valves. It doesn't appear to be auto related.
