Ben Bruce aka First Born
Neat old Buick. Looks as if you will be busy for awhile. Least of all will be explaining why the fenders do not match. Ben
George K.
Thanks Ben. I’ve been very busy. As far as I can tell, according to the 1955 Buick brochure, the fenders look the same. <o>:confused:George.</o>
Ben Bruce aka First Born
Just trying to be a smart a++. Is it a Super as noted on the rear fender, or a Roadmaster as the port holes indicate?
George K.
Ben. Check this out. George.
JohnD1956
How cool. The Supers are great cars, often overlooked and mostly under appreciated. Good luck with this one. What's you choice for color combination?
Ben Bruce aka First Born
OK George. Not as smart as I thought I was. I have driven Buicks all my driving life. Very few others. Never knew that any Supers had four holes. Learned something new today. Thanks Ben
special55
Hey Ben,I thought the Special was the only model with three ports. Did the Supers only have three in different years? My knowledge is somewhat limited to 1955 right now.But I'm learning.George,Nice looking ride. There are several of uss restoring 55s right now. Check out the "new buick weight loss" thread. Pretty soon we'll have to start our own 55 Buick club (no offense Lamar)Good luck and don't forget to try your local parts stores before searching the interenet and classic Buick parts suppliers. NAPA still has some stuff in stock. You can save allot of money that way.Rich
MrEarl
First, congrats on scoring a nice Super sedan. The 55's Roadmaster and Super 4 door sedan roof line flows so much nicer than the 54's... has that french curve in it like the 2 and 4 door rivieras do. The 54 just sort dives straingt down into the beltline. And what a shame 54's nor 55 4 door Roadies or Supers were offered with hardtops.55 was the first year that all series except the Special had 4 portholes. Before that, 4 portholes stood for Roadmaster. So the term "four holer" lost a little bit of meaning that year. If you need anything and ain't in no hurry, I've got a 55 Super 4 door parts car. Guest uprrstand
Whats a Mclaughlin Buick, I have a 1930 buick series 47 and it has different type wooden wheels than most of the other ones I have been looking at? My car has large threaded hubs for the larger caps, the other one I have has the smaller ones?!?
Thriller
A McLaughlin-Buick is a Canadian built Buick from 1918 (1919?) and 1942. Once production started again after the war, the McLaughlin name was dropped. For the first 10 years, the cars were only known as McLaughlins, but were built with Buick chassis and drivetrain.
