If there are any Packard fans here, someone on FB is selling 1938 Packard parts. I believe he has more than what he has listed, may have a whole car. Look in Marketplace on Minneapolis FB & you should find it.

The Ranchero seems very reasonably priced. If the aircleaner is real, it's worth a few bucks. Chevy L79.

So are we talking about an actual situation or another hypothetical? It's kind of academic arguing the vagaries of the situation as presented. Is there a problem here on which someone needs advice or is this another hook tossed into the water by a noted fisherman?

In Minnesota the frame stamp is the legal VIN for a vehicle. So buying a car that has been "rebodied" or with a VIN tag not original to the body/car could get you in a legal jam.
Regarding the GT40's, how could either of the cars Matt mentions be legitimate? Sounds like the plastic 34 Fords titled as such. Further, if both cars are considered legitimate, then haven't the numbers of GT40's increased from the original numbers produced, & if so, then theoretically, an owner could take his or her car, use some parts from it for 1 car & the rest for the second, & now he owns 2 of them.
I don't dispute what Matt is saying, just think both cars in the example are bogus. If I was in the market for a GT40, I would RUN, not walk away from both of them.

4 Speed manual...sorry...I didn't catch that...
According to my books, 3788421 is the casting number for a bell housing, not the transmission.

Car got sold. I was leaning toward not buying it, so no loss. Wifey thought it was cute, but would rather have a 1971 Corvette.
Thanks to all that offered advice.

"At any time in the history of the antique car hobby was this a $39,000 car?"
Yes, when it had a suitcase with $30,000 in it that went with the car.

Would like the pros & cons of buying & owning a Crosley Super Sport. It's a 1951. Not a show car, but certainly a very nice driver or casual cruise/show car. Cute little bugger. Parts availability? Can I assume there's manuals & other info to service & repair it when necessary? Any help or comment is appreciated.

This was posted earlier with title of 1941 Cad for sale. Here's the link. https://photos.app.goo.gl/ogt4og6QfbqZadiJ2
I got a link to photos from the seller. I had asked for help in the General Discussion forum with opening the links up. Seller sent this which took care of the issue:

Thanks to all that offered help. The photos are on Google & the guy sent me "invitations" to 2 of the photo groups. I'm waiting on "invitations" to the other 7 or 8.

I received a png file with a list of cars for sale. Under each car on the list is an app or website that has photos. It's not a direct link you can click on. I tried with no success to open the links. Can anyone maybe give me a hand? PM me if you can. I don't really want to broadcast this list until I see the car photos.
Thanks in advance.

I have a couple of standing offers and I am planning on selling it to the most reasonable one. (need the space)
Pictures are worth a thousand words so please carefully look at the pictures before texting me questions that the pictures could answer.
Thanks,

Ok friends, here is something very special that you are unlikely to see listed on Craigslist or anywhere else. Full CCCA Classic Convertible, right out of our barn after being stored for over 60 years, 1931 LaSalle convertible coupe with a rumble seat and the side golf door. This is a large car. The car is original and in need of a complete restoration. The frame is solid. The wood in the body needs to be replaced. The rocker panels and front fenders are rusty. The engine was partially disassembled 60+ years ago but I don't know why. This is a $100,000 car once restored. Please do your research and you will see. This exact car was the very last 1931 model LaSalle convertible built on the assembly line before 1932 production started. This has been documented and it's also in a known Cadillac/LaSalle history book. Pretty neat. Asking a very reasonable 15k or best fair offer. It's underpriced at this figure. There is not another Cadillac convertible from this era anywhere to be found at this price. Cash talks, however, lowball offers will not be considered. Serious buyers, please "leave your phone number" for a reply. The car is in New Jersey. Thank you. -
There's a John Kruse listed as the auction contact person. Would he be any relation to the Kruse auction that used to run the Labor Day Auburn auction? Didn't Kruse Auctions get into some type of financial or legal trouble & that's why they no longer do Auburn?

As a senior member, you should know that price & location should be in your ad. It may be helpful to a potential buyer.

Why ruin the car with a swap like that? Go unique - go original and rebuild the original engine.

It would be an ok driver. Lots of trim missing from the exterior. Assume it's repainted. $5500 seems like a fair price judging from the photos.

1970 Chevy Monte Carlo Convertible did GM build one?
in General Discussion
Posted
No, according to "The Standard Catalog of American Cars 1946 - 1975".
The Chevelle convertible top is a perfect fit for the Monte & there have been conversions done, but not factory or dealer conversions.
