It is a Model 47, a Special Four Door Sedan-Plain Back.

In the video when I pause it, I see the Style as 37-4409 and the Trim No as 300. The Fisher Style number for a Model 47 is 37-4409. Trim No. 300 is Tan Bedford Cord. Paint No. 501 is Chancellor Blue. The car appears to me to match the codes that I see in the video.

The 0's looked like 8's to me. Thanks for the info.

  2. A little more information would be very helpful. From your minimal description, it appears the car may be auctioned off, or is it for sale outright? If for sale, asking price? If auctioned, who, what, where? Is there a title? Is there any documentation, receipts, etc.? Why is there a gasket in the back seat? Head gasket?

I'd be interested in the car, but give me a description and more sales information.

  3. Not mine.

  7. Not mine & no interest in it. Maybe you want to move up from a Hudson or Peerless, or a Cadillac that has lost some of it's luster. How's this?

    Chassis # 39048 Engine # 64574
Correct, original, 4 owner car from new, never taken apart, never restored. Sold new in Rochester New York on 12/6/1911 it remained with this family until just after World War II. It was then purchased by a well known collector in Minneapolis. He owned the car until the mid 70's and sold the car to another collector in Minneapolis. I purchased
the car from him in 2013. Over the years we know the top was replaced in 1940, the car might have had some paint work done prior to the War, but has all original paint in many areas. The car has never been taken apart, it has always been maintained and is a proven driver, touring car covering over 25,000 miles since the War. Car still has original carpet in the rear, original upholstery on the backs of both front and rear seats. All parts and accessories are original, it has many spares and features windshield from the factory and a exhaust whistle dated 1912. We have the factory build sheets showing all numbers and pertaining delivery facts.

This is the first year for electric start on any automobile. Running and driving very well, it is extremely rare to find a 105 year old car of this type anywhere. Anytime this car comes out to drive or be shown it is a crowd pleaser, everyone no matter the age loves this car! Reluctant to sell but asking $85,000.00, car has clean Minnesota title with Pioneer Plates. Currently in storage for the season, the car can be seen by appointment Ed 602-421-5663

  8. Not mine & no interest in it. If the '28 Cadillac or '27 Hudson don't tickle your fancy, maybe this one will.

1930 Peerless Model A Standard Eight 5P Sedan Hayes Body
One of 7 known to exist as per the "Peerless Registry" Straight Eight Continental engine 247cu.in 3 speed transmission, dual side mounts, trunk rack, clock in rearview mirror, original interior, correct original car. Car was in extended storage, in the past year gas tank replaced, original mechanical fuel pump purchased, repaired leaky oil pan and water jacket side plate. Tuned with new points, rotor etc, running and driving well. Understand this is a straight eight engine, a real going machine, not a Model A Ford or the like. Car has some rust, some dry rot and needs some TLC, but well worth the time or use as is and be special. Have tools, jack and other accessories. Car has Minnesota Collector plates and a clear title. Located in East Bethel, Mn. The car is a very rare example and is top of the line from 1930. It rivals Packard, Pierce Arrow, Lincoln and Cadillac of the day. I do not have the time to continue with the project and am open to an offer. You will not really see another anywhere!!!
Please call to make an appointment as it is currently in storage. Ed 602-421-5663

What this car can look like restored. I'd buy it for spare parts but where would I keep it? I will vouch for the fact that mine has been virtually bulletproof for seven years of touring and shows with nothing more than standard maintenance. Big, impressive car that always generates a lot of attention and on tours in spring and fall, the folks in roadsters and phaetons regard my heater and roll-up windows with envious eyes. And the kids fit in the back without issues. I love mine, although I know it's not a super valuable car and that I'm probably way upside-down. But it has brought me and my family more pleasure than any other car I've owned.

Also included are photos of how mine looked before restoration, so nothing is impossible (don't hassle me about the sidemounts and whitewalls, please, I like it how it is).

I won't hassle you. I'll say it improves the look of the car tremendously. Went from plain Jane to very sharp.

  10. C Carl,

You stated "Speaking of gentlemen : We should all strive to be such , unless you are a lady. Ladies and gentlemen , one of the beauties of this electronic medium , is that there is no need to quickly shoot from the hip. In the interest of maintaining proper decorum , I suggest any impulses towards making any negative value judgments here should be given a convenient and well-considered cooling-off period." and you are correct. I shot from the hip & apologize if I offended anyone. I will try to refrain from hip-shooting in the future & I will rephrase my previous reply, now deleted due to inappropriate content.

The seller has deleted his CL ad and is now entertaining offers above $11,500. By entertaining, does that mean he is having offers over for dinner & drinks? Or maybe just the cocktails.  I've seen this scenario happen numerous times before and it seems more so since Ebay & CL are available to sellers. The sellers post an ad in CL to fish around to see if there's much interest. When there is, the ad disappears & low & behold, the car shows up on Ebay, usually at about the asking price of the CL ad. I believe ignorance of the seller on the vehicle he/she is selling & greed are the main factors in play in these cases. They may not be in play together though.

Now for this particular car, I find it ironic that it was offered at $11,500 or offer originally when I posted the ad here. The posting showed quite a bit of interest, plus I think C Carl talked with the seller. After this all took place, the seller now wants offers OVER $11,500. You have to know that the seller looked at this site & realized he could maybe squeeze a few more thousand out of the car. If you don't believe this, then you probably believe in Santa, the Easter Bunny, & the moon is made of green cheese. In one reply, it's mentioned that seller says he paid $15,000. He must be of the "Buy High, Sell Low" school of thought.

Maybe the guy will get lucky & sell the car for more than his original asking price, or maybe he'll sit on it as a result of raising his price. I relinquished my position on buying the car because I don't know anything about such a car. I would have bought it to flip, but figured someone here may want it. It would be a shame to see it bought for parts since it appears to be close to being roadworthy. I don't know how or why anyone here would want to buy it now for anything over $11,500 if they've read through this whole thread & seen what the seller did with the price.  For someone cruising the web or Ebay looking for older cars, they may run across this car and decide to do some research. If they Google anything near the title of this thread, this thread may come up. That may cause questions in a potential buyers mind.

Finally, a word of caution to sellers regarding pricing your vehicle. If you aren't sure what it's worth, or if you want multiple parties interested & clamoring for it, maybe you shouldn't put it on sites like CL. An auction site like Ebay is a much better venue for you & your car.
