  1. Interesting car. It's weird to think that 25 years previous to this, Duryea was producing cars. When I lived in California, 1958-to-1961, my Dad took me to my first car show, held indoors at Knott's Berry Farm. There was an 1895 Duryea there....the only car I remember. IIRC, the owner was actor and car collector Ephrem Zimbalist, Jr., whom we met there. Here is an early Duryea, the car that won the November 28th, 1895 Times-Herald Motocycle Race. For those into newer cars, this one is close to what the iconic AACA symbol looks like.
  2. Gee, Curtiss Pool from the Pierce-Arrow Museum At Gilmore facebook group sent me a youtube video of a heretofore unknown Peerless at the 2018 Hamburg Motor Classics event in Germany. What a grand car!
  3. No. It is written, an auction company shall not divulgeth the new owner or location, Only the sale price with commission, so the Saleworthiness of the House Who Selleth shall be exalted. The chariot shall go to the promised land of such devices(overseas, usually), unless Providence deems another auction augurs well. What I mean to say is that going to a big auction often is the last time I ever hear of an antique car...until the next auction. It is possible to contact the auction company and ask if you can send along a request to know who the new owners are. Sometimes that works, one time I was informed the company would lose its auctioneering license if they told me how to get in touch with the new owner. THAT was a small-time company, not one of the giants.
  4. That blows the people only buy cars they wanted in their youth nonsense out of the water. That type of nostalgia buy is for three cars, in my opinion: 1955 Chevy 1956 Chevy 1957 Chevy
  5. One of 3 known 1909 Peerlesses still in existence, according to the world-famous Known Peerless Automobiles In Existence registry* : This Peerless sold at the RM Sotheby's sale for $286,000. * with a restored 1929 Mod. Eight-125 discovered in Germany 3 days ago, that makes 369 vehicles on KPAIE
  6. The Aught-Nine Peerless sold for $286,000 at the RM Hershey auction October 8th. Chassis: 4882 Engine: 3137
  7. There is a 1929 Peerless Mod. 6-61 for sale in Chagrin Heights, OH near Cleveland. Seller is Mark Fogarty, who has had this dark blue and black Coupe since 1996. Asking price: $16,000. From a Facebook Marketplace ad ( https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/127260489483755/?ref=product_details&referral_code=undefined ).
  8. The 100-Year Anniversary of the self-propelled lawn mower is upon us.
  9. Standard Eight, Excellent information on the single/dual ignition options on the Standard. Great photo -- such complexity! I learned a lot recently reading your page on the 1915 Standard Eight Roadster, particularly the carmakers using H-S engines and the places these V-8s were manufactured. 1937hd45, You seemed to get a kick out of the idea of the Peerless race car and a re-creation. I found another pic of the Atwater-Kent 1917 racer today: ...small print says: "Special PEERLESS 8 Raceabout -- Speed 95 miles per hour -- Equipped with Type CC Ignition"
  10. I have misplaced the information, but someone in Peru has a nice-looking 1929 Peerless Mod. Six-61 Touring Phaeton there.
  11. Saw this ad on FB Marketplace this a.m.: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/169152988733780/?ref=search&referral_code=marketplace_search&referral_story_type=post&tracking=browse_serp%3A2d8316ac-a7e8-4e50-ad43-a14b39825b6b ...don't know availability, condition or owner. Price $10,000.
  12. This 1909 Peerless Mod. 19 7-Pass. Touring Car will go on sale at the Hershey RM Auction this week. $4,475 at the factory -- 38 HP -- cast aluminum body panels -- coachbuilder: Brewster[one of at least 49 sources of bodies for this marque]. America's most expensive automobile brand in 1909. Also 1904 and 1913, I've read. An odd coincidence is that TWO 1909 Peerlesses are for sale at this time: this one and a Model 25 Raceabout that Hyman Motors in St. Louis has had available for awhile. Owned by the late Les Holden of Southern Pines, NC. ......

One of only 3 known surviving 1909 Peerlesses will be for sale at the Hershey Auction, the former E. Stanley Cope, M.D. Model 19 7-Passenger Touring Car. Les Holden from North Carolina has been the owner for some time since Dr. Cope's tenure. For those interested in the business of antique cars...RM Sothebys estimates $100,000-150,000. ...
  14. Close. Anheuser-Busch. I'm not that connected to the company, but did drive Augustus Busch IV's 2012 Tahoe when he'd had it for about a week.
  15. Possibly Milady's Husband.........."1910 Selfies" In Front of Their Limo. If this is a Model 32, it was $7,000 when the family bought it new. The couple were dating in 1916, married in 1917: Mildred Sommer and Norman Wiss, Sr. of Newark, New Jersey. The family had J. Wiss Cutlery, the largest manufacturer of quality scissors in the world.

    Peerless Photos

The first year for the Peerless Six-80, a nice example shown here in a Bonhams auction photo from 2016. I presume this one has a new owner, after longtime U.K. owner Ron Wanmer _ _ _ previous owners were Stan Reynolds of Wetaskiwin, Alberta and Bill Harrah of Reno, Nevada.
  18. You scored some excellent photographs of the Peerless. Combined with the ads, you give a sense of this car's place in the 1929 motorcar industry. Yes, Virginia, the Peerless does cost more than a Chevy or Ford, but all American carmakers would have trouble matching the value of this Six-61.

  20. The Stahl's Automotive Collection in Michigan acquired the 1904 Peerless which sold at the Tupelo Museum sale Bonhams conducted in 2019. Don Boulton of Oklahoma was the owner for many years. Burton Upjohn of Kalamazoo, Michigan owned it before him.
  21. In 2019, the Pioneer Auto Show Museum in Murdo, South Dakota sold a 1928 Peerless Model Six-60 Sedan. New owner lives in St. Louis, Missouri. Here's a photo I took last time I was in South Dakota:
  22. I believe the only known 1915 Model 48 Touring Car -- one-family owned for a century -- changed hands recently. Nobody seems to know who the new owners are _ _ _ maybe they will show or tour with it someday. There's always the chance they'll join the Horseless Carriage Club. Beautifully restored by The Motor Car Co. of Staunton, VA in 2003, T-Head 578-cubic-inch engine.
  23. The '22 Peerless V-8 above must be the buy of the year, whomever bought it. Don't know, unfortunately.
