Looking to purchase a mint or near mint 1937 Ford V8 hubcap.
Just found out that a friend's Dad has a '37 Ford V8 that needs a hubcap.
His Dad isn't really involved with any major clubs so his contacts are nonexistent.
I'd like to purchase the hubcap and give it to him so his car will be complete.
Thanks!
Here is a picture of one of the hubcaps on the car.

Interesting car.
How about some more pictures?
Good luck sorting your carb.

The tough part is sending parts made of unobtanium through the mail.
I am lucky to have two pumps for my Rickenbacker but I have zero idea where I would get another.
No one in the Rickenbacker Car Club has spares to sell at this point.
-
I hope Gould did well with your pump.
A few years ago I sent them a pump off my Rickenbacker and after a few weeks they threw in the towel and said they couldn't do it.
One great thing is they did not charge me for the time they had the pump, I just had to find someone else to deal with it.
The pump ended up at the Flying Dutchman in OR and he did an amazing job on the pump.

Dave, congrats on picking up such a wonderful car.
I know you'll do well with the car.
I just don't think you'll get the same deal for paint and body as you did with your Pierce.

Beautiful firetruck.
Can it be driven to its new home?
That would be one fun drive.

Good luck if you break one of those curved windows. Would make a nice greenhouse.
If you look closely at the picture of the bus in question, it has at least 3 missing curved pieces of glass around the upper seating section.

@TAKerry that is one gorgeous motorcycle.
It looks years ahead of its time.

For many years I rode a Honda RC51 like this one back and forth to
my job at Ford. The RC51 was a V-twin successor to the Honda RC45
which Honda raced in World Superbike with great success. Honda sold
RC51s right out of their race shop to homologate them for superbike racing.
Carl Fogarty had a field day with the Hondas riding his V-twin Ducati's
which had Desmodromic valve train that could out-rev and out-horsepower
the Honda.
After cutting my teeth on a 1981 Yamaha FJ 550 Maxim that actually belonged to a friend, I purchased a brand new 1989 Honda NT650 Hawk.
It has a 650cc V-twin engine and wears the RC31 designation with the Elf single sided swingarm suspension.
I rode that bike all over, even doing a 140 mile round trip commute for a number of years.
I rarely ride it these days because being on anything with two wheels in So Cal almost amounts to a death wish.
This isn't the one I rode but this looks just like it.
This is my '89 Honda Hawk just after a bath.

Thanks for posting about the car that started it all.
When I was in my late teens I purchased a 1975 Camaro 350 cid / 350 auto car with AC.
It was a very nice driving car so I know yours drove well but with a ton more power.

None of my cars were in an Independence Day Parade but I did drive a cousin's car in one.
He drove his 2022 Maserati MC20 and I drove his 2018 Maserati Quattroporte.

Thanks for posting the pictures and the stories.
I'll be heading to Wyoming in a few days. We plan on doing some home shopping since we plan on moving there next year.

I have every confidence that whatever cars are built, however they're powered, enthusiasts will find a way to tweak them and make them faster. It's inevitable.
Tesla has ways to detect mods and disable them.
It's inevitable that, as cars communicate more and more with the manufacturer, dealers and manufacturers will be able to disable mods or even put your vehicle in Limp Mode until a mod is removed.

I hate to pick nits, but this year's PAS meet is not in So Cal.
The meet is taking place along the Central Coast of Calif.

While I would not go out of my way to own a Tri-Five, I do appreciate the timeless styling they have.
Once prices come down some, they would be a great car for an inexperienced or new hobbyist due to parts availability.
Years ago I would have never dreamed of owning a Ford Model A but once I retire I may just pick one up and make it my daily driver.
Parts availability is a no brainer and I would still get to be in a pre-war car.
I'll continue to drive my other pre-war cars but I wouldn't worry about breaking something while out in a Model A.

My thoughts go to YZ250.
The Honda Elsinore out performed the Maico and the Elsinore was a dog compared to the other models that were released around the same time.

I've never used a shop, I do it myself.
Getting the parts to rebuild one myself was always the problem.
Plus, the guy did amazing work and even replated or vapor blasted the anodized parts to make them look like new.And he did work on anything from pre-war stuff to modern accessories.

Worse than that, you can't even buy parts to rebuild an alternator or starter any more, just complete rebuilt units (that usually have a 50% return rate due to crappy workmanship). I stockpile spares like brushes, solenoids, voltage regulators, and starter drives to avoid the wait for repair parts. Fortunately most of my vehicles use common parts so it's pretty easy. Heck, it can be a challenge to find correct sealed beam headlights and wiper blades anymore.
There was an excellent guy that rebuilt starters and alternators out of a shop in the corner of his property.
He had an old school shop with tons of cores on shelves and you could talk to him and his helper about anything starter or alternator/generator related.
His turn around time was excellent and I always got my original pieces back looking and working like new for less than a rebuilt, exchange unit would cost.
Unfortunately, he passed away about 4 years ago and the business completely shut down.
Shops like that are getting as rare as hen's teeth.

The sticker on the battery indicates it was made in Jan of this year.
Unless someone has really abused the battery, it should be fine once properly charged.

Back in the 70's my Dad picked up an outside mirror that goes on a 60's VW and clamped that onto the door of our Rickenbacker.
Been there ever since.
Very similar to this one but with a clamp mount.

Always drop the oil pan and clean everything out before you start it.

They didn't earn the nickname 'Maico Break-o' for nothing.

Best Place For 30's Ford Hubcaps
in General Discussion
Posted
I am looking for a 1937 Ford V8 hubcap.
A family friend's father has a '37 and needs another hubcap for it.
It is the one with the raised V8 on it.
We need another one like this.
Any leads would be greatly appreciated.
