@junkyardjeff Not only do you have fine taste in vehicles, but you also have fine taste in music.

I have a 2017 PHEV with a Harmon Kardon radio/Nav package.
It is a decently intuitive unit with both touch and actual knobs or buttons to make it do what you want it to do.
Even though the factory head unit has Nav I rarely use that system and usually use my cell phone instead.

On many US cars manual transmissions are not even an option anymore.
A friend of mine had to order his car from the dealer and wait 4 months because he wanted one with a manual trans instead of a CVT.

Manufacturers are doing all they can, to make it so no one can work on their own cars.
This, coupled with the fact that most people today have no idea what is under the hood of their car, is why the Parts Depts are so small and almost nonexistent.
In the 60's and before, I would bet that most people at least did their own oil changes on cars. Now, I bet most people wouldn't know where to begin to check the oil on their car.

Not sure about the Bug Eye but you only have to look at the front of a MG TF to see the influence.

I would argue otherwise so long as it has a valid registration and license plate attached.
Current license means nothing in most areas.
Vehicle must not be kept in an inoperable state if it can be seen from the street in most communities.

For $55 shipped I wouldn't dream of not using one.
But maybe I'm just used to what parts cost for my cars?

Personally I think hemp is too easy. I'd like to see tools of the dark ages implemented for theives.
I would be banned instantly if I posted about what I would like to do to thieves.
Remember the movie Hostel? That would only be the beginning.

the corvette world is a lot of fun with nice people. Like anything, there are some purists with strong personalities who may decide it is their life calling to point out everything not original on your car.... just to make them feel superior.
This was my experience when I owned a 100% original, low mile '78 Silver Anniversary with the L82/4 Speed combo.
What spurred me to attend a few Corvette gatherings was one day when I was filling up, which happened quite regular with that car, a guy pulled up in a current gen Corvette and started asking me about my car.
He asked about the power antenna and I told him I wasn't sure if it was the original one or not.
He proceeded to remove his suit jacket and lay down on the pavement in the gas station so he could look up under the car and see the antenna motor.
He informed that it was, indeed, original and invited me to attend a local Corvette owner's meeting.
Most of the folks there were extremely nice and were genuinely nice, 'car' people but there was one or two like the persons you mentioned about being know it alls.
I still miss that car and I wonder how it's doing down in Australia as that is where it was shipped to when it was sold.

Pierce Arrow held the patent on fender mounted headlamps so no other manufacturer could have mounted their headlamps in the fenders until after Pierce Arrow ceased operations in 1938.

I had never seen one in operation so I found this.

When I acquired my 1934 Pierce 8 in 2006, it had a recent overhaul, block boiled out, rebuilt water pump with modern seals, and new radiator core, and a 50% EG coolant solution. On a ~500 mile-each-way trip to our meet in OR, I was losing almost a gallon of coolant between pit stops every 2 hours at highway speeds (55 mph).
Your Pierce did puke quite a bit of coolant when we stopped on our way through the Cascades that meet.
I certainly hope none of the coolant hurt the paint.
Your Silver Arrow is a beautiful car and we couldn't run off an leave you in our Pierce.

The front wheels are definitely not centered in the front wheel wells.
Reminds me of how the factory ride height of the '64 - '66 Mustangs had the rear end slightly lower than the front end.
Back in the 80's when I helped a friend restore a '66 it was something that drove us crazy.

I really hope the car is found and is undamaged.
And all thieves should be dealt with harshly enough to make them never want to do it again.

Franklins were always a wonderfully designed car even after they adopted the conventional looking front end.
Especially when they used the large Orion headlights.

You want to see something mind boggling... The "faux pro" camera is fixed hard and fast to the windshield. Yet it turns with the car and the motormeter moves.... Must be in the circuitry!
If the camera is mounted on a stabilizing gimbal, the camera will act exactly like that.
Notice the camera doesn't shake excessively when he turns on the dirt road.

How many quarts of oil to the mile? Dandy Dave.
That's tire smoke but since no one would eat gray whipped cream you have to improvise.

I have always like the looks of the '64 Malibu SS.
And they look even better in a convertible with the top down.-

That's great, but how to convince the missus I need to buy them all? Does anyone else go through this?
Overheard at a Pierce Arrow Society Meet - "When the wife asks, 'How many cars do you really need?' I always reply with 'Just one more'"

How do I turn on the Radio? Clueless Car Features of this century
in General Discussion

It is rather utilitarian Plug-in Hybrid Kia Optima sedan.
Nothing really special or notable about the car other than it is a PHEV that gets about 65mpg depending on how much I plug in.
