That's a bumper from another car laying on the ground below the original.
I see it now.
I only really noticed the bumper in the close up shot of the deck lid.
Now that I look at the other pics, I can see the other bumper laying on the ground. It is a good looking car.

Does this car have the wrong rear bumper or deck lid?
The YOM plate is mounted on the trunk while you can see a space for the plate on the rear bumper.I do like where the tail lights are mounted but in modern traffic they may be an issue with inattentive drivers.

Here is my first camper... and my new wife... this is our year-round, full time home..... on wheels.... Double bed, kitchen,& skylights... solar lights inside.... Fun.... I tanned the deer hides the old way... using the deer's brain oil and smoking the hides to make them golden... it was her wedding dress... I was 40 she was 20.... those were the days my friend....
Great set of pictures and story to go along with them.
What were you towing your home with? -
A friend is restoring a 1965 Chevy pickup.
Body work is all done but he hasn't painted it yet because the paint he wants is $1,600 a gallon.
Tack on the other materials and a DIY paint job can easily be over $3,000.
He has the paint tools and experience but being as he's retired he's putting money into other stuff at the moment since he just moved into another place not long ago.
Paint and body work expense is why so many just shoot clear over a weathered paint job and call it a day.

I know this is slightly off topic, but the issue of trailer weight distribution came up so I found a nice video that explains this rather well.

never ever haul a car in a small trailer like that backwards. It’s a disaster waiting to happen.
The trailer is too short to get the real weight of the vehicle in the proper position related to trailer axle location when it is loaded backwards.
If there was enough length ahead of the axle to get the weight further forward, it would be OK, but as you pointed out, the trailer is too short for that.
My guess is the trailer was pretty squirrely going down the highway with the car loaded that way.

Back in the late 80's, not too many years after I had purchased a 1964 Malibu SS convertible, I was pulled over by a city cop.
He apologized for the traffic stop and said he just wanted to check out the car since a good friend of his had one back in high school when they were new.

I've seen quite a few of those mentioned and I own one of them on the list.

Great interview.
Looks like Jay is recovering nicely.
The real MVP is his buddy Dave that grabbed Jay and pulled Jay into his chest to help extinguish the fire.
I've heard that Dave suffered some burns from grabbing Jay and using his own body to smother the fire.
Very nice to see that both are doing well and recovering nicely.

That was one very long drive.
Traveling at 8 miles an hour and it took nine days to complete.

But it may require reading the manual. LOL
More than likely, it would require downloading an app for your phone, connecting to the washer and then making the changes.

Hello Zepher, Would you post a picture of the running board mats on your DeSoto? I have a 1937 DeSoto coupe that I need to order mats for. What color is your DeSoto?
Herman, I like your Dodge coupe also, very similar to the 1937 DeSoto.
Al
I will post a picture tonight when I get home.
My front floor mat is for my 1929 Pierce Arrow. Since it is an Enclosed Drive Limousine it uses the same rubber front floor mat that the open cars do so I was able to jump in on the run that was being done for open cars.
Trimacar put together the entire project and worked out the details with Kris, sending him drawings and a template to use.
And yes, the price can seem a bit steep at first, but when you consider the detail and workmanship that is produced, it is definitely worth it.

Best wishes for Steve's surgery and recovery.
Hope you're back in the driver's seat in no time.

Google with their Billions of dollars can't tell me what a HUA is. What is it?
I believe it stands for Head Up A$$.

Kris did a run of front floor mats for some members of the PAS and they were exceptionally well done.
I still have not installed mine as it is so nice I would rather it be mounted on the wall as a work of art.
This winter I will get around to installing it but I will cringe every time I have to step on the mat and get it dirty.

I don't mind new tech at all.
My line of work involves modern technology being as I manage VMware environments, network devices and entire server room environments so I am not adverse to new tech. What I do have a problem with, as many others here do, is when vehicles require you go through multiple steps to accomplish what should be a simple one and done task.
Every feature in a vehicle should have a fairly simple way to shut it off and have it stay that way until manually turned back on.
If a manufacturer included the engine Start/Stop feature so the vehicle would meet some Federal emissions goal, fine. Just give the owner a simple way to disable the feature and not have it come back on every single time you start the car.

This is the center stack of my daily driver.
The physical buttons down below are pretty much all duplicated on the touch screen during various menus.
Still has hard volume and tuning knobs, my only gripe is that you need to push a button to display the current Climate Control settings or see what it temporarily displays across the top of the screen when a change to the Climate Control system is made.
I guess they figure with full auto climate control, including auto defrost, that you really don't need to see what the Climate Control is set at.
One thing I do like is the system has a Driver Only button that turns off the fans for all AC vents to the passengers so only the ones near the driver blow air.

Looks like a great turnout and there were a ton of different cars there.
The Datsun pickup that was next to you was about a 1964, far older than the 1972 Datsun PL521 pickup I used to own.

Junk yards like that don't exist in most of Calif any longer.
Too many environmental regulations in the state for anything like this to exist.
I would love to wander through and just look at the cars.

Although the service intervals on newer cars are being extended, I still service all my modern cars well before the recommended service interval.
I don't run spark plugs to the full 100k miles or more, they come out at 70k miles.
Oil changes are done every 4k miles with full synthetic.
Air filters are changed when they fail to pass the visual test or when I notice a drop in mpg.
My maintenance practices are probably why I have a 2002 Nissan with 250k miles that still runs and performs like new. I wouldn't hesitate to jump in the car and drive it anywhere.

1930 Studebaker Limo?

Thank you for posting pictures of the car for those of us that do not have FB accounts.
One thing that doesn't look proper is the truck rack sticks out much further than the rear bumper and the rack is angled down, something that would not have been the case in a factory build.
