  1. Good Suggestion. Thanks Jack Mike
  2. Brian, They've offered to pay for a new cap. Just need to find one. Easier and faster if I find one and collect from them. Thanks, Mike
  3. Hello All, While getting a new pair of shoes for my '91 the centercap was popped off and the pieces on the back of the cap that hold it to the wheel broke off. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement cap? I know Barney makes some reproductions but it seemed to me that someone else on the board had access or was producing them as well. Anyone know who? Thanks, Mike
  4. This doesn't neccessarily mean your fans are not working. I've owned two '89's. Both clocked high temp readings similar to yours and dropped off either after I started driving or the fans finally kicked in. I believe you're experiencing the problems we've all faced with the thermostats in our cars. Others will chime in but many have gone with a different thermostat and reprogramming your fans to kick on at a much lower temp. I'm sure others will chime in. I know Padget has changed his. Try using the search function or Ronnie's website might give you more insight to the problem. Research this before throwing a bunch of money at it. Mike
  5. As I recall from my '89's when signal is engaged a chime will go off if signal is left on for extended periods of time. I assume the '88's are the same. None of the 90's or 91's I've owned have ever had this function. Those hand screws to get the tail light off can be a bugger. Especially the one by the power antenna. Always have left that one for last. When putting the tail light back on, make sure you get it seated firmly and get the hand screws on tight. If not you could experience water seeping into the assembly that could short out bulbs. If not seated tightly you'll notice condensation build up on the inside of the tail light.
  6. Just got a comment from a woman driving a Mini-Cooper, cool car, today. She was parked beside me and as she backed out she rolled down her window and said "I love your car." I thanked her and away she went. Mike

The '91 does have twighlight sentinel... Mike
  8. The first time I saw a Reatta was in '88 or '89. It was a burgundy model and I was very taken with it. I was even more surprised when I saw the "Buick" emblem on the tail light. Thinking that it was probably a reasonably price vehicle I hurriedly went to a dealership to check one out. It was a short and disbelieving visit after finding out the price. I would occasionally see them over the years and always thought to myself what a good lookin' car it was. An owner in my neighborhood had a beautiful red '90 model for years and had finally put it up for sale. It sold before I could make a serious bid on it. My quest for a Reatta had begun. It took about two years of studying and looking before deciding on a '90 burgundy model with 110k. That first purchase in '98 led to five additional purchases over the years. Each has had it's own distinct personalities and have brought me many hours of joy and a few very frustating moments over the years. I'm down to one now and still enjoy it very much. Every time I've bought one I tell myself this will be the last one. And so it goes... Mike
  9. Current temperature in OKC is 23 degrees. With wind chill it feels like 11... BRRRRR... Mike
  10. Get in touch with Barney Eaton. He has some reproduction caps for sale. Have seen a picture of them and they look great.. Mike
  11. I've owned two '89's and never had a problem with the touch screen. Currently own a '91. I miss the '89. The touch screen is just too cool. But in all fairness, for me, it was a distraction. I was always playing with it while driving down the road. I equate it to talking on a cell phone while driving. Not a good idea. Mike
  12. Although good in theory I hate the idea of being on the hi-way, the sentinel engages the headlights, they pop up, and the tension put on them by the forward velocity snapping/crushing the plastic rollers as they snap into place. I never use the sentinel on my '91. I always engage the headlights at a standstill. Mike
  13. Craig, The "Brake" light does illuminate in the test mode. Thanks, Mike
  14. Greetings to All, My dash "Brake" light has stopped illuminating when I engage the parking brake on my '91 coupe. Parking brake engages just fine. Car brakes with no problem. Ran a diagnostic and during the light show the brake light illuminates and there are no current codes showing from the diagnostics. Any idea(s)on what could be the problem and how to fix? Big game tonight in Miami. GO SOONERS!!!! Thanks guys, Mike
  15. If you do alot of highway driving then yes. Your car will not go into lock-up till your engine temp is approx 145 degrees. This will result in low mpg's. Mike
  16. Hi, I would like the number for the '89 Reatta you mentioned. Thanks, Mike
  17. Sounds like a switch is overheating killing operation. When it cools down it'll work till it overheats again.. Mike
  18. It's a '91 coupe. Thanx, Mike
  19. Hi Gang, I've got a leaking overflow bottle. Looking for a part number for a replacement. Tried the search function but could not find one. Anyone know if it is still available? Thanx, Mike
  20. Do a "search" on the subject. You'll find it's a little more involved than you think.. Mike
  21. Yeah, but who wants to drive a Cobalt. No offense to Cobalt owners but I don't believe the majority of Reatta owners would be caught dead in a Cobalt. What's needed, if we're to continue to strive for economic bliss, is a vehicle(s) that not only delivers good economy but style and a little eye turning pizzaz. The Cobalt, Prius, Aveo, etc, just don't do it for me.. Am I alone in this? Mike
  22. Hope your knee get's better Nic. Got to kinda have those things to get around.. Mike
  23. I corresponded with her when it originally became available. She told me a dealership offered her $8500 for it. I told her to take it. That was before her first listing on E-Bay that listed the problems the car has. I would agree that the car is in the $4000 range.. Mike
