  1. I am also in the process of trying to find a transport company. I have been calling numbers from the "services offered" section of HMN. I have been surprised with the differences in price, so shop around. I will send you PM once I make my final decision with my thoughts

  2. I drove my 60 Impala for many years to everything. I took more of a beating then the car ever did. The lack of A/C in traffic is what killed me! I took a lot of spare parts and auto "band aides." Water pump, generator, starter if it is an auto, and we were good to go, a few wheel bearings and a seal can't hurt either

  3. AJ, never tow because you or someone else "think's" the vehicle can do it. Check your owners manual and there will be a listing for the GCWR. That is the gross combination weight rating. That number would be in pounds and is the MAXIMUM weight of the tow vehicle, trailer, load and contents of the vehicle (driver, fuel, luggage, etc) Just because the vehicle can pull it does not mean it can stop and control it at a high speeds, or even worse a blowout on the trailer. I looked at the trailering guide that came with my GMC, but the Safari vans were no longer in production, however the maximum trailer weight for an Envoy with a 6 cylinder 4WD with a 3:42 rear is 5,200 lbs with the 3:73 is 5,700. You will need to use weight ditributing hitch without any doubt. If you are renting a trailer from U-Haul they use surge brakes and you will not need to have a brake controller installed.

If you are going to use a tow dolly you might as well drive the car. Think of all the debris that will hit your car, you are basically riding the bumper of another car at 60 miles an hour, besides you are turning the wheels of your car for 508 miles. I know on some roads in NYS tow dollies are not allowed, something to check into. I had a nice open Featherlite, and had $5,000 of damage to my car from a tire scrap from a truck blow out kicking up from my tow vehicle. I now have a closed trailer and 2500 series truck, good luck

  4. Steve,

Thanks for offering to pay for the tickets but the money is not my issue.

    To everyone,

I never said that the job done by the host region was not done well and I do not think any of us who posted on this or the original thread felt that way. If there was a sign saying the bar was only going to be open for an hour I did not see it, and from what I understand from the threads I was not the only one, but next time I will ask. I bought several tickets because I wanted to have a few sodas which were also sold at the bar. If the bar was to be opened an hour and I purchased ten drink tickets the seller of the tickets should have realized with only two banquet tickets I might have had a problem using them in a short time span. We all know these events can last a few hours so it would be nice to be able to have something to drink other than convention center water and warm iced tea made with the same water. I was not questioning the contents of the bar at all, only the fact that a last call reminder would have been nice. I don't need to know but it would be nice to see how many tickets were purchased and how many were redeemed, that might answer a few questions as to how clear the sign was or was not.

To deleate the original thread, is just ignoring that there was a problem and it was not isolated. It was not right to delaete it, it was wrong! nobody marred the effort of the host region. It might be the convention centers rules as to what to serve and how to pay, but was it their rule when to stop serving?

Susan thanks for the hint but it was not needed, and explination as to why it was deleated was needed more than your hint as what I should or should not do.

  5. What happened to the thread that was discussing the tickets that were paid for and the early closing of the bar in New Bern? If someone did not like it then say it! I know I did not like throwing out $28 in useless tickets and have no problems saying so

  6. I have a 1960 Buick Wagon that I am in the process of registering in New York State. The problem is I have a PA tittle and they never listed the wieght, and seems like it was a problem for NYS DMV It is an Invicta six passenger any help? Is it in any manual? I might need to provide paperwork

    Thanks

  7. Save your money, I had it done on my 60 Impala about 8 years ago it never worked right. Part of the problem is the voltage at idle produced by the generator is too low for a transistor to work, so the radio would cut out. Tubes can compenste for this, might be the reason why we did not see a full transistor untill 1963? I sent it back several times, only to find out that the componants installed are made by a common vendor, so they all have the same problem. Maybe this has been solved since I had mine done, but at least ask before you have it done. Good Luck

    John

  8. Getting a space is not all that easy, first you have to be an AACA member. Then hope that there are some open when the registration is out. I was lucky and got two last year of my own. I still share three spaces with a good friend. I parked a car in the space for sale and sold in in 15 minutes so I was rather pleased.

  9. I have heard this for years, but everytime I see a guy with a modified vehicle he seems to be 60+ years old. I do not see any "young" guys with modified vehicles. Besides the cost of a modified vehicle way exceds that of an original driver. Why do the restorers have to be tolerant to the street rods? They have their events.
