  1. I have seen before where VW would rebox a german accessory item made by a german aftermarket company. They would give it a ZVW part number (accessory items for VW started with ZVW) That being said, it is possible to find some accessory VW items as an "original authorized" accessory part or as an aftermarket item as well. I use to collect mint NOS boxed accessory items back in the 80s and 90s.
  2. I saw a version of that once that was on a swing arm. So if you were driving it could swing in any direction so it wouldnt spill. Saw it in a VW camper that was on.display

Super excited to hear him tell the car's story and learn more about it with all of us! 😃 Stay tuned everbody!!! https://m.facebook.com/autolabradio/

  9. I subscribed as soon as I heard about it! Anyone that who knows Richard, knows he is & true car-guy that has his heart in the right place with this car hobby and the AACA. For me, he has earned my respect over all these years of great car article reading. Can't wait to get my 1st issue. All the best with this Richard!
  10. You guys behind the scene are truly something! I can't say that enough. Anyone (like me) who was the Gettysburg Grand Nationals this year will tell you how safe, spread out and how well done it was done. An amazing show and location to have it. You could sort of say that Gettysburg was a "1st time Covid practice run" and that this show will be tweaked even better! Thank you so much to everyone behind the scenes who amazingly pull these things off so quickly and safely for all of us. You are truly all amazing!!!
  11. I thought the CarsYeah interview was awsome and really explained what the AACA is all about. It's a unique Club that welcomes everyone and until your involved you really do not know what your missing. I think that came through loud and clear. Great job Steve! 🙂
  12. I know this 41 type 60 and know the restorer (Jacek Krajewski of Warsaw Poland) personally. As an owner of a 1944 KdF type 82e beetle here in the US I was invited to a meeting in Germany at a private museum there. The Museum owner Richard Hausmann organized the meeting for the sole purpose of bringing together all owners of "original" documented 1938 through 1944 KdF-Wagen Beetles only. The car is real and amazing. The most documented KdF Beetle restoration to date. These cars are extremely challenging to restore. This 41 was even more so as 1941 build info is extremely scarce. It's all outlined in their book which I was able to look over pre-published at that Germany meeting in May. The owners are wonderful and have been dedicated to restore it as correctly as humanly possible.
  13. Ola, I don't mind at all. You don't know if you don't ask, right? I understand why you like these cars.
  14. Hi Buicknutty, Yes, I agree with that too. Last I checked there was something like 9 or 10 of these in the Buick Club worldwide with around 1/2 being overseas. (There must be more out there, right?) But I was not in the position to buy a big American 40s or 50s Convertible, and had always wanted one. This car came up at the right place at the right time. I was already hooked on the look of these cars. I knew I never saw one and quickly found out how scarce they were too. Buying one that needed a bunch of work was the only way I could get into a car like this. Despite different challenges I've had, I don't regret it one bit so far!
  15. Im not really too interested in selling it. I've been asked before, and so far have declined. I have alot into this car so far. I have had the complete driving mechanicals restored correctly so it drives wonderful now. A few years ago I was able to buy all the front & rear bumper chrome, teeth, driving light guards, backup light guards, hood bomb site, hood medallion, etc, all NOS from one person. It was a great find, and makes the car look much better now. (Especially in pictures) It still needs a whole lot more done to it but it is fun and reliable to drive now which I really like. My car was also a factory black with red interior car which is another thing I really like about it. I've been wanting to post update photos of her on here but was having trouble doing that. The posters on here are correct in saying its better to get a finished car, or at least picking the best one you can start off with. There is a lot to these cars that add up dollar wise when restoring one. More than you may realize.
  16. Hi Carola, Yes, I still her. I'm in the USA in New York. Not many of these cars around for sure.
  17. Well, the 1950 Flywheel I needed I found 2, only they were both worse shape than mine was! I needed to go another route. Had the one from my car restored by a machine shop that specializes in restoring Flywheels. Who knew? Northwestern Transmission Parts in Winchester Ohio. They weld each tooth and machine it down to like new. Figured I would share that with you guys incase anyone ever runs into that same problem.
  18. Well, the flywheel is out. Now the hunt begins. Does anybody have one? Measurements are: 15 5/8" across 156 Teeth The ring is welded on so it cannot be removed & flipped around. No one makes a new aftermarket one (for the Dynaflow trans), so any suggestions where I can buy a used one? I took photos of it but can't upload them for some reason.
  19. ok, thanks for that. we decided to have the starter that's in there completely rebuilt (again). There is a several week turn around time doing it that way, but since the mechanic has other work to do it shouldn't be holding him up too bad.
  20. Hi Rick, if it's correct for my 1950, I will take it. PM me. Thanks.
  21. Does anyone know if there were different types of starters used in 1950 on the Roadmaster?
  22. Ok Pete, thanks for that! I believe he's taking the motor out over the next several days. I will take pictures and measurements of it when he does. Thanks again.
  23. Thanks guys. The fly wheel ring is not available (I've been finding out so far) for the Dynaflow transmission. The Manual transmission flywheels are the only ones available. It's a shame as all mechanicals were new or rebuilt only 300 miles ago. While driving about 60mph on the highway the starter engaged! I was so bummed. I got different opinions if it could be cleaned up & used or not. The mechanic who has it now feels it shouldn't be used. We believe it was the old wiring, but going though everything to find out why the starter engaged like that in the first place.
  24. Hi Bhigdog, Not familiar with that procedure? The tips of each tooth are missing. Your saying that a company can add metal to each tooth and fix it?
  25. Hi guys, I'm in need of a nice used or preferably NOS flywheel for my 1950 Buick Roadmaster. I also heard that the flywheel can be flipped around if need be. (I would rather put new) Anyone ever do that? Car is in the shop now waiting for me to find one. Thanks in advance!
