  1. Finally got around to changing this part on my '90 6cyl . Got the part from Hemi . followed the advice from the forum about using a wrench on the shaft and blocking it with a 2x3 against the schock tower. The old part came off without a problem. Followed up with a fluid changed ,front and back ,which also went well. I was concerned about doing this on my own,{with wifes help} but I'm glad I did it. Now for a head gasket on the '89 2.2.
  2. Look back in the archives this site for antenna mast . I had the same problem and found a replacement cable in Pep boys on the shelf. Worked out well. Also cheap. Joe47
  3. '89 See my post on same page arm rest by Joe 47. I will send a sample of the leather. It's not an exact match. Joe
  4. Here are pictures of console in the car. There is no treatment on the console. No conditioner. Joe47
  5. Console installed. I will get a picture posted soon. If you are interested I will send you a small sample of the leather as I said in my post. The condition of my leather and the match with the new is not going to be the same as yours. PM your address and I will send a sample, then you decide. Joe47
  6. Well it seems like the head gasket wins. The car has about 85k according to the original owner. The speedo stopped at 72+k. The clock has since been repaired. Problem with this car, it's not registered. I have not been driving it other than just outside the house. Looks like I have a fall project ahead. Thanks for the input. As always, everyone is helpfull. Joe47
  7. My recently purchased '89 2.2L was running rough. Car was running on 3 cyl the #4 was not firing. Check engine light was on . Did a fault code check with the ignition key . Code 26 came up, "injector current limit not achieved". Looked through the archives on our sight came upon the Knizefamily mopar papers and under possible causes found ....bad connection or wiring... and yes that was it. Removed the electrical connector to the # 4 fuel injector and the connection was green. Cleaned it up and the engine is running fine. Check engine light went out. Success Did a fuel pressure check at the rail and got 55psi. Followed up with a compression check and at 1,2,3 cyl 125 psi and about 110 at #4 cyl . Now here is the question..... can coolant get into the crankcase through the turbo? After doing all the checks for the rough idle I pulled the dip stick and noticed creamy color on the stick . Though it might be from gasoline washing down to the oil pan while cranking the engine doing the compression test. Drained the oil and it was milky and the radiator had to be topped off. About 1/2 gallon low. Seems like a cracked head or blown gasket . There was very little white smoke at the tail pipe. I cleaned out the oil filter put in new oil. Ran the car and it now seems fine. NO smoke, oil is clear. Can the antifreeze be passing through the turbo? And not the head? And only somtimes? How do you check this out? Joe47
  8. Thanks for the compliment Alan. The shop that did the work does marine coverings. Boat seats, tops, canvas and vynil work. Also car interiors , fabric and skeepskins. They do great work. I have not had any reqests so far. Can it be that nobody has a bad console? I've tried many times to get the original leather but never able to locate. I think I found a good match. There must be bad consoles out there. Joe47:confused:
  9. Here is the before picture. Look like yours;) Joe47
  10. Had my center console recovered for the ginger interior. Had to buy the entire hide. The color is camel tan which is a very close match. It is a little darker but very fine leather with a smooth grain. Have enough left over to cover your console. If you PM me your address I will send samples of the leather. The work is done by a professional shop on Long Island. I've attached photos before and after. Price is $150.00 + shipping. I will find out shipping costs before I install my console back in the car. On my first TC I paid $275.00 for this work. Joe47:)
  11. Did not make the comparison before. My guess is the original was longer. Yes I used the original nut, They only give you what they call a temporary nut. Its not at all a bad fit. And it was worth the price and convience. Joe
  12. My mast was broken, the antenna would not retract or go to the full up position. Went through all the sites to find a new mast but our car is not listed . Found a mast at Pep Boys by Metra for Chrysler # CK-PWRCR180. A great fit except in the full down position the mast retracts below the fender nut by about .5 inchs. For the $19.00 price I think its OK. Just passing this on if anyone has the same problem.
  13. Looking for the parking light , amber color, passenger side front, that sits under the bumper. Also, a power antenna, the entire unit. Send a pm with price. Thanks
  14. Thanks guys for all the replies. What I found out so far....the battery is bad. Removed it and had a load test at Auto Zone. Looked at the wiring around the battery when I removed it and all looks good. Since I don't own the car, its slow going to do more tests. With a new battery I'm going to look for some shorts or grounds. I suspect there is a heavy drain on the system killing the battery. Joe
  15. I went to see an '89 w/ the 2.2L for sale, close to home. Original owner with alot of paper work from all the past years. It looks like it may be worth buying. Problem is it won't start unless you boost it. Car runs after the boost, shut it off and it won't start again. No click no nothing when you turn the key. Battery is brand new and charging system is putting out 13.8v when running. The car has been seviced by mechanics and most recently besides the battery the bill indicates that the "electrical distributer pickup dual pigtail for Turbo" was replaced. Was that the hall-effect [sic?] plate ? Any opinions out there? Owner is distressed . She has alot of sad stories about mechanics working on this car. Joe47
  16. I have a front bumper strip that has a cut in it. Still in one piece. I understand that it could be repaired. Anyone can have it for $25.00 plus shipping. No hardware with it , just the rubber. It's in good shape other than the cut. PM if interested. Joe47
  17. TC Toy .. It is just the driver's seat torn on the entry side from getting in and out. I know it can be repaired, I've had an auto seat guy look at it. I just want to know if anyone has used a product that matches the grain and texture. Thanks. Joe
  18. After many tries and PM 's with Peter, I finally got in to the new fourm. Thank you Peter. I did'nt know I had to use my TC name , Joe47. I used to use another login name with a password with the other format and get in. Anyway I'm here now. But... interesting thing , my last visit is listed as December 31 th 1969. Must make me the very first ....pre TC ... owner, visitor, member ... whatever. Joe47 Here is my question if anyone is still reading this.. black leather for seats, anyone have a name or brand that is a good match? You would think that black is easy to match . I have looked thru many samples but nothing exactly right.
  19. Thanks for the replies. At the next inspection I will take a closer look. Joe47
  20. While backing out of the garage and thru the driveway as I apply the brakes they loudly groan. Very loud. I feel a shutter throughout the car. Sounds like front and back. Noise goes away in a short time. The car sits for long periods and I thought it might be a build up of rust on the rotors but it only happens in reverse. The pads are good the calipers are working fine all other times. Car stops, no issues otherwise. Is there something that needs lubrication? Has anyone had this problem? Very strange noise, not a common brake sound like a scrape or squeal. Car is the '90 w/3.0. Thanks for the help. Joe 47
  21. Sorry... made a mistake about the passenger. Not Frank Sinatra, I think.. Lisa Minelli.
  22. Came upon a beautiful color print of our TC titled "The Italians " . I'm told it was designed 20 years ago and no longer in print. But.. I found a shop in Boston that frames the print and sells and ships them . The print has a red TC with Lee Iococc behind the wheel, top down, with Frank Sinatra along side. The charactors, all famous Italian's , actors, singers, all in caricature form . You can see it @ www.FriendlyFramer.com . search , The Italian's. Store is @ 347 Hanover Street Boston, Ma. 617 227-1715. Ask for Romular if you call. Mention the club site maybe we can get a discount.
  23. Grizzly .. I attended in '07 w/ my '89 and I contacted TC club regional directors Rich & Sally Lane . They are listed on the back page of the TC America newsletter. I would think that they are still organizing for this year. You can also vist CarlisleEvents.com and register . Good people and a good time. Joe 47
  24. '89, As per Lou Z... windshields are the same if they have the logo. If the one you are selling has it, I will buy it. Let me know when you are ready. Joe
  25. Hey '89, When you have it cut so that I can pick it up ... Let me know. I'm assuming that its in good condition and the '89 and '90 are interchangable? Joe
