  1. Hello, We are finishing up a 38 LaSalle Convertible Sedan and I have one broken window flipper for a rear door (covers opening w/windows down). Is there any alternative to replacment than a 400 to 600 dollar pair. That is just too much money to tie up in the car for something like this. They need not be 100 point, just functional w/decent plating. Thank you. JMM John M. Mereness (513) 478-1887 johnmereness@aol.com

  4. Well we started the re-restoration and it is going well, but I am still searching for reproduction 1938 LaSalle Running Board Rubber Matting. Any help would be most appreciated. Rand Boardstreet thought someone in California was already reproducing such, but did not know their name/contact info. JMM John M. Mereness johnmereness@aol.com
  5. Looks like a decent enough 31 and fairly complete. I would say a good value for money. In addition to the updraft carb, there should be a "carb. cover" that covers manifold cross over, a "gooseneck for air cleaner, an air cleaner and an air cleaner cover mounted on top of ail cleaner, and a vacumn tank system to supply fuel. Heads should have spark plug covers that make it look quasi overhead valve (you see studs coming out of head w/large turned knobs on them). Top looks vinyl covered or something, but all I have seen are sheet metal (so this could be very rare ?) All Coupes and convertible 31's had golf doors. Outside of the v-16 and a couple of V-12 cars, most all cars are fairly the same, though 31 Indy pace car cars may be something to look into for "specials.". JMM

These look similar to Auburn, but have a find maybe 1/2 inch wide bead at the hub. Trying to match the one in my sidemount to have a pair and would like to do wheels on the ground as well. 15. Concours events come in many shapes and sizes, as do Classic Cars. Some are not for everyone, though as someone w/an eclectic garage of CCCA cars, I must say that I have the best time at the Indy Concours and would not miss it. What I noticed most about the classic class was that there were many a great car and the event rivals the best of Concours in regard to CCCA cars. This year I judged the English and German sports car classes and these classes were also full of outstanding cars.

  18. I take it the problem has to do with the design of the wheel puller. A fellow in the Franklin Club makes a very nice wheel puller. Go to www.franklincar.org and go to cars and parts for sale - About 1/2 way into parts for sale he has his wheel puller pictured. If you have a car with disk wheels, you can rent or borrow a puller that hooks under the wheel lugs. With Wire or Wood wheels you must use a puller that mounts on the threads for the dust cover. A little penetrating oil never hurts as well.
  19. Has anyone done some comparison shopping for a 1941 Cadillac Wiring Harness ? I am thinking of installing a new one in the 60 Special (w/automatic trans.) and am curious about your likes/dislikes with your choice. Also, this is a highly used tour car. J.M. 20. I bought them (Dawson Plugs) from Henry Yeska, Sr., 825 Georgetown Road, Nazareth, PA 18064, 610-759-0230 - and they were 100 point ready to install. P.S. Learned the hard way, run a pair of dial calipers down the hole prior to installation and make sure you have the right depth prior to installing. If depth is wrong, very carefully clean/drill out hole (which is not easy) as they holes are sort of oval.
