  1. I would say not. '56 is pretty dark. '61 is lighter. Paul
  2. The '68 that I had still used the warranty book with the address-o-graph. The warranty book was longer (length wise) than it was in previous years and the vin was computer punched into one end of the book, through both covers and all internal pages. Paul
  3. <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: Shaffer</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Do you recall if that 62' Biscayne had the padded dash option?</div></div> I don't really recall. Tempted to say not. Not exactly sure what should be padded on a '62. I'm pretty sure the Guide-Matic was mounted to metal on the dash. Paul
  4. Glenn, '61 is the earliest Address-o-graph warranty book that I have. I'm thinking it was the first year for it. They used the address-o-graph up through '68, then switched to the plastic cards in '69. My '72 Cutlass had a plastic card. In '73 they went to the hand written warranty folders. Paul
  5. So, you like oddly optioned vehicles, huh? Just returned from a small regional Vintage Chevrolet Club show being held at a local hotel. One of the entries was a Fawn Beige Metallic '62 Biscayne 2-door post sedan. It had poverty hubcaps and blackwall tires. No trim rings. It was some sort of V8 with an automatic and power steering and brakes. Other equipment was Guide-Matic automatic headlamp dimmer, Cruise Control and blower-style rear window defogger. BTW, nice find on that Vista Cruiser. Paul
  6. All full sized Oldsmobiles from '61 thru '64 used the Roto-HydraMatic. Olds didn't get the Turbo until '65. Paul
  7. I had my '62 aligned 2 years ago. Gave the tech the shop manual and those are the specs that he used. Paul
  8. Yeah, Glenn, they did have Boyne & Delco (Guide), but that doesn't seem to apply in this case. '66 with tilt/tele & cornering lamps uses a 1993667. This is the switch located at the bottom of the column, not the actuator behind the steering wheel. 1993667 was discontinued in November of '79. That would explain why I had trouble getting one back in the early 90s. I ended up resorting to a junkyard switch. But we didn't have the internet then... You could try: LLEWELYN OBSOLETE GM PARTS NORTHRIDGE, CA 91326 818-363-5094 Their inventory hasn't been updated since February 26th. A web search turned up a place called B D Enterprises, but it looks a few years old (2003) and the price was $1.00, which can't be right. That's all I came up with. Paul
  9. Right here it is - option U75 power front fender antenna. $32 on 88s, 98s, Custom Cruisers and Toronados. For $32, who wouldn't have ordered one!? I would imagine if Olds had them, the other divisions did, too. I stupidly thinned out my sales literature collection from this era. Haven't gotten around to replacing it yet. '71 and '73 Buick brochures make no mention of power antennas. I've got a Buick parts book printed in '72 and it lists no power antenna parts after 1969. '75 Cadillac brochure shows it as being standard, even on the Calais. The '75 Chevrolet brochure only says that factory installed radios include windshield antennas. Pontiac brochures from '74, '75 and '76 also make no mention of power antennas. I used to work for a Pontiac dealer and the owner had a cranberry '75 Grand Ville convertible. I thought that car had a power antenna. Maybe I'm wrong. Paul
  10. There were 4 switches available: No tilt or cornering lamps Tilt, no cornering lamps Cornering lamps, no tilt Tilt & cornering lamps Which is it? Paul
  11. Glenn, Roland's car is a very rare radio delete 98. There was discussion about it, including the eBay link, in the Buick forums recently. I think we should encourage him to leave it the unique radio delete car that it is. I wouldn't even want to try and add a radio to this one, if there is not already wiring and speakers in place. And what about an antenna? They were in the windshield then. You'd (ok, I'd) have to install a correct power antenna. It also does NOT have the optional bumper rub strips. Paul
  12. That's a good question about the radio delete. There's probably a power feed from the main harness, but that's it. Most likely no speaker(s) and no speaker wiring. Also, these are the years when the non-power antennas were imbedded into the windshield glass. May not also have all the static suppression equipment that is required. He might be in for more of a project than he realizes. They must have has a power antenna available in '73, because the parts book lists a power antenna mast for 88, 98 and Toronado. Paul
  13. One more post is this thread. If you'd like to see the post from the new owner over in the Classic Oldsmobile forums, go here: http://www.classicoldsmobile.com/forums/...ted-please.html Paul
  14. <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: 65gs76limited</div><div class="ubbcode-body">I didn't know you could DELETE the bumper strips.</div></div> You couldn't delete them, as they were not standard. Option VE5 was the Protective Front and Rear Bumper Rub Strip package - a $24 option on all 98 models. Funny, they were standard on the 88 Royale... Paul
  15. No. The Toronado was the only '83 Olds to be offered with the UA6 Theft Deterrent System. Paul
  16. The new owner of that radio delete 98 Regency has surfaced on one of the Oldsmobile forums. He's already looking for an am/fm radio for it... Paul
  17. You fellas are making reference to the 400. I work with a guy who used to be a borough cop and he was looking over my shoulder when I was looking at that Biscayne. He said he thought that car might have the police package because his borough had an unmarked Biscayne like that in '72 and theirs had a 400 also. Paul
  18. Just wondering how you made out with this. I got a call from a guy this morning who wanted to know what floor pans might interchange with his '63 88. Paul
  19. The car still won't be raised and unveiled until Friday. They opened the fault early so that HAZMAT crews could ensure the stability of the fuel and oil to avoid any potential hazardous situations, and so that they could check the condition of the steel pallets needed to raise the car. Go ahead and go. More of a mystery now, than ever. I'd go if I could. Paul
  20. 1, 2, 4, 6 & 8 are convertible top color codes, although some are also vinyl top codes. There were no blue or yellow vinyl tops. Beige... Champagne... same thing, different name. When your assembly manual was printed in late 1966, black and champagne were the only colors available for vinyl tops. White was added early in '67 and is not reflected in the assembly manual or the Color & Trim book. There was a sale bulletin issued early in '67 announcing the additional availability of white. Paul
  21. Not my car, but I looked at it this weekend. I'm going to pass, but thought someone else might be interested. White and Gold car with tan vinyl interior. 90k miles if I remember right. Seems complete and correct with some original paperwork. Need cosmetics. Has rust. Rear bumper 1/2 gone. Rust in rear frame rails. The sun has not been kind to the interior plastics. Original wheels, original decals & emblems, original Hurst dual gate shifter. Not highly optioned - tilt, cruise, power antenna, a/c, fm 8-track. No t-tops or sunroof. No other power options. Located just south of Avondale, PA on Route 41. Seller's # is 610-268-8256 Too much money for what it is, if you ask me, but that's just me. Someone else might feel differently.
  22. Don't know how many are out there, but you don't seem them too often. Check out my website: http://mywebpages.comcast.net/oldsfan/MySite/62oldspage.html Paul
  23. S is for Champagne lower body paint. 6 is the vinyl top color. Vinyl tops were only available in white, black and champagne in '67, and white and black were 1 & 2 (not necessarily in that order), so I guess 6 is champagne. Paul
  24. I, too, have been thinking Cadillac, but earlier. Maybe '56, like this? Maybe earlier? 60 Specials such as this one used a longer skirt than the lesser series did. Paul
