It would have to be the 53 Olds 2 door sedan, put in a 59 371 and alot seen my tail lights. Quick out of the hole and plenty of top end and if I kept my foot out it I would get about 20 miles to the gallon. Should have taken it down the track just to see how quick it was.

Seeing it makes me want another old Mopar again, had a 50 Windsor 8 pass sedan for over 20 years.

A local junkyard has the Dodge version and would the frame from it be too short up front.
-
Took it on its longest trip yesterday and looks like the trans will need to be pulled, along with the inoperable solenoid the second gear synchronizer needs replaced so for the time being it will be replaced with a regular 3 speed while it gets repaired. I did get the rear window working along with the courtesy light in the dash and the parking brake warning light.

I was looking for the parking brake warning light switch for my 75 Mercury and everything else came up.

The neighbor is starting to avoid me now so I will probably get nothing from her.

I thought that brand was dead years ago.

Found put I do have insurance that would cover it and made sure two more of my cars have it,if I do not start getting money soon will make a claim.

I finally got to talk to her yesterday and told her about the 3400 dollar estimate,I talked to one of the giys at work and asked him what he would charge to fix and said 1000 so I told her that is what I want and now to see if I actually get any money.

The neighbor offered his almost new lawnmower as partial help and I have a feeling that will be all I get out of it,now if this was his old girlfriend it would be different since she seemed to be responsible. I am glad most of the damage is not very noticable and after the scuff is removed only the damage on the front fender will be very noticable. I bought the 65 Mercury to replace it and was planning on selling it eventually,it needed more body work then I wanted to do and now there is more so if I can find a 2 door that needs a engine then it might get used for parts.

Sounds like your neighbor bought himself another car ….
Have you approached him about the
damage his guest did to your car ?
Jim

This car just had liability so no insurance help, the door looks better in the pics but has a couple creases and could be fixed but a local old junkyard has about 5 so I am going to look for another door and since it always had a big dent in the bottom of the front fender will see if I can find a good one and just replace it. The estimate I got was 3400 and I know I would never get it from her so I am thinking give me around 600 and be done.

I would consider a newer electric car to drive around town but never do a conversion.

I have a gravel driveway next to my neighbors driveway so his new girlfriend ran off his and sideswiped my 65 custom 500,its not too bad and could be worse nut she has no insurance and I only have liability. The one estimate I got is probably more then the car is worth and would never see that much money from her. Rear door as a crease and is bent at the handle and is repairable but going to get a couple more estimates and go from there.

The 50 in the junkyard is now missing the radiator and shroud,it was there last year.
-
It looks like someone cut up a panel truck to make it.
-
My 50 had a parking brake warning light.
-
If you need a shroud I can look at a 50 in a local junkyard that has a 8.
-
I still live in the house I gew up in and there is still one car still around in the neighborhood that has been there since I can remember and its my 55 Ford Convertible and still sits in the garage it always sat unless its in the big garage to be serviced. Non of the original neighbors still live here and I am the last holdout.

The neighbors two houses away got a new 67 Country Sedan that I got in 2000 to use the drivetrain for my 65 Country Squire.
-
On the one side it was a big Buick and then a couple Caddys and on the other side was a 63 Impala and a 59 Olds that was the first car I seen with power windows.

I hope its for a 55 Chevy,it would be easier to find someone who would need it.

The neighbor and his kids are avoiding me now and I am probably the bad guy for wanting her to pay for the damage she caused, maybe it will be a good thing and they will not come over borrow anything now. I will wait and see how karma deals with her.
