  1. What is the process in polishing glass to remove scratches?
  2. Thank you for the pictures. I really enjoyed them. A few more years and we'll be coming to Tucson permanently and I will look forward in having my 48 LC in your pictures. Thanks again..Regards..Rock
  3. I would really appreciate seeing pictures of the Tucson meet. Anybody take any??
  4. How 'bout you, diz, your always one of the first to help out. Any thoughts on this one?
  5. Rolf Thank you for your reply. I'm hoping others chime in as this has become a frustraing problem.
  6. I know I asked about this before but its such a darn annoying problem I need to ask again. The ammeter in my 48 LC, 12 cyl, 6 volt positive ground will not go pass the middle bar when running. Before I changed the generator and voltage regulator it would show charge after starting and then settle to the right side on the center bar on the ammeter. The voltage regulator was one of those "off the shelf" with a blue cover which I replaced with a cadium cover from an old regulator. Should the voltage regulator be a positive ground regulator and does that make the difference? I afraid that I might burn up a new generator and Optima battery. I was told that the Voltage Regulator should be NOS for it has a higher draw than the off the shelf type. I would really appreciate any advise. Thanks and Regards...Rock
  7. I thought it would be interesting, to hear about what additives, if any, you use in your motors. I typically add "Mystery Oil" with every oil change in my '48 Lincoln V-12.It seems to hold down the smoke and quiet the engine or at least, I like to think it does. I remember a number of years ago when a "old time mechanic" saw me add STP to a 1937, 216 cu in chevy motor he said "If the factory wanted you to add that crap, they would have put it in when the built the motor". So folks what do you say, using any "snake oil" in those old motors???
  8. I thought it would be interesting to hear about what additives, if any, do you use in your motors. I typically add "Mystery Oil" with every oil change and it does seem to hold down the smoke and quiet the engine (placebo maybe?) I will never forget, when awhile back, I added "STP" to a 37' Chev 216 cu in when an "old timer mechanic" told me that "if the factory wanted you to add that crap, they would put it in when the built the engine". So guys what do you say, using any "snake oil" in those V-12's??? ..Regards...Rock
  9. Optima battery in Lincoln reproduction case, should be completed this Friday, 4/14.I'll post pictures. Regards..Rock
  10. Good to know thanks for the feedback. I think we need to do more of this type of product/services evaluations on this site. I know I appreciate the information and would find it useful.
  11. Hey Diz..If you google "Batteriesareus" it will come up as the first site. I contacted them and waiting for price and description. I did talk to Antique Auto Battery in Hudson, OH 800-426-7580 website info@antiqueautobattery.com and they will build a reproduction Lincoln case battery with a 6 volt Optima inside for $275.00. Probably will go with these folks because the are "up the road" from me in case something is not right. Regards...Rock
  12. Has anyone had good, bad or indifferent experience with a 6 volt Optima battery. I have this ongoing problem with my traditional 6 volt battery "spitting" which is resulting in damage to the splash pan paint, as well as, the battery tray, in my "48 Lincoln Cont. Thinking about buying an Optima and have it put in a tar case. Would appreciate your input.
  13. Tired of the "spitting battery" and the damage it does. Thinking about replacing with a Optima 6 volt in a tar hard case. Anybody have experience with this and how has it worked out?..Thanks and Regards
  14. Bought a '48 Lincoln Continental Coupe from an estate in East Troy,WI. Car was advertised as a "frame off" restoration and complete engine rebuilt. The deceased owner has 32 cars in his collection and had his company mechanics take care of the cars. When I saw the car it was love at first sight and was stupid enough to believe the Estates represenative, as to the condition and not have it professionally evaluated. Swore the engine was redone and the the "smoking" was due to the car being in storage for several years and would clear. Yeah right! Bottom line. Had to have front end completely rebuilt and now looking at a complete rebuild of the V-12($$$$)Lawsuit in process. If anyone else had problems with a car purchase from an estate in East Troy, WI send me an Email. Caveat Emptor
  15. Please let us know how they perform. Thanks
  16. Thank you, v12 Lincoln. I appreciate your response. You have confirmed my suspicions. It burns me up that you show them a nice restored car that needs some work and all they see are the $$$ signs. Thanks for your offer, believe me, as I watch the snow fall, I also wish I was in the Sacramento area. Have a great day!
  17. I was quoted a price of $600 labor only ($60 X 10 hrs)to install motor mounts in my 48 LC. The mechanic states that the splash pans, radiator, fan etc. must be removed in order for the engine to be raised to get to the mounts. Does 10 hours labor seem reasonable? I'm really tired of getting "ripped off" by these so called restoration shops and would appreciate your input
  18. Thinking of sending my V-12 waterpumps to Mr. Haney for rebuild. Anyone have dealings with this gentlemen and care to comment, as to the quality of his service...Thanks and Regards...
  19. I was succesful in removing a oil stain from a wool seat with Shout followed by Woolite. Good luck
  20. There is a good response in the AACA forum.
  21. I noticed, I am getting a battery acid build up on the battery hold down bracket. Its a V-12 with a 6 volt system. The battery and regulator are new and the generator rebuilt. What would cause this to happen?...Thank you for your response.
  22. I have a brand new 6 volt battery with a new regulator and new rebuilt generator. I noticed an acid buildup on the upper battery hold down bracket. Why does this happen? Thank you and Regards
  23. Would greatly appreciate a referral for a qualified and reasonable (if they exist)V-12 mechanic, in the Cleveland, Ohio area. The motor is in a 48 Lincoln Continental...Thank you
  24. To Zeffer 48's point. I see allot of views but few responses. I have learned so much about my car since I joined the LZOC and by viewing this board daily. (Don't tell my boss) It seems, however, its always the same individuals that respond to the "newbies" or even the "ole timers questions" regarding their Lincolns. I am sure there is a wealth of Lincoln knowledge out there and I for one would welcome (need) every bit of it. Let start with a "roll call" of viewers. I'll be glad to start...48 LC...Cleveland, OH...48 Lincoln Continental Coupe...Who's next???
