  1. Does your thermostat housing have the spring and plate fitted ?? I had 2 out of 3 engines that had it removed. Danny
  2. How much would 18" wheels effect the speedometer reading ??? In this day and age of radar traps it would be easy to be pinched for a few MPHs. Danny
  3. G'Day Janne I too am verified by Paypal. I don't believe the Paypal line. That's what they do, it's there business. Some people in the U.S for some reason believe it is a super difficult job to post outside the U.S. When you post out of the country you need to fill in a declaration form with really difficult questions on it. Questions like " What is it ?" " What is it's value ?" "Is it a firearm?" Just too much effort for some it seems. I could have got someone in the U.S to buy them for me and post them on to Australia but I didn't even try. The major NEGATIVE ATTITUDE put me off. Crappy way to do business. Thankfully, most Yanks aren't like that. I'm sure someone here from the U.S could be a go between if you really wanted them. Danny (Can one say Yank here and not get yelled at ??)
  4. I would have bought those at the original price but the seller seems to not want to take Paypal from outside USA. He doesn't say why. He also seems to have a few issuses given all the negetive crap he goes on with. Not a good marketing strategy telling potential customers " do not buy-do not buy" over and over. When do your repos hit ebay Grant ?? Danny
  5. Ahh, There was that '46 on eBay available in your neck of the woods. :) Danny
  6. 1065 at the firewall face. 1280 at the bonnet to body line. 1340-50 from bottom of door to top of roof. They are +- a mill or 2. It was a bit awkward to measure on my own. What you up to Rooster ?? Danny
  7. Can do when I get home this arvo. Danny
  8. G'day John Are you looking for a freeby or to buy one ?? There is an original genuine copy on eBay now for $30 if you want to buy. Danny
  9. Sorry for the bum steer Janne but looking at the 2009-2010 Bob's Automoblia catalogue (hard copy, not website) it seems he no longer has them for '39s. The glasses do not scan at all on the other side and yes the early glass does look slightly yellow compared to the later glass. Danny
  10. One of mine came from Bob's and the other from eBay. They both did speedos, clock and radio glass (for the sonomatic). They are a bugger of a thing to scan as the light reflects through the glass. For the aggravation and costs involved in getting it done and done correctly, I agree with Grant, just buy the set from Bob's. (the new website is a bit of a pain compared to the old one and it currently doesn't show the glasses I'll scan the page from the catalogue when I get home) I'm not sure which glass I'll put on mine yet, early or later version. I should use the earlier but I'm leaning towards the later. Danny
  11. I scanned mine. Don't know if it will help you. I can send them direct if you think it will help. Danny
  12. Well, it seems he dropped the price a little for this "restorers dream". I guess the price could be justified by "the doors open and close". :) I run across this mentality regularly that if it's old, it must be worth a fortune. If only !!!! Danny
  13. Hmmmm. It seems that "mint" means the same here as it does there which is what I thought. Given the many name differences with car part names (bonnet-hood, boot-trunk) I thought I'd check. Thanks for the confirmation guys. Danny
  14. I know that things in the U.S sometimes have a different meaning to that here in Australia. Is this typically the meaning of "mint" in the US ??? 1937 1938 1939 1940 1941 1942 Buick Grille Emblem MINT : eBay Motors (item 150418718214 end time Mar-06-10 12:01:37 PST) Danny
  15. This is best viewed with" To dream, the impossible dream" softly playing in the background and DON'T be drinking anything at the time. Buick Sedan straight 8 - eBay, Restoration, Salvage, Cars, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 31-Mar-10 18:16:54 AEDST) Who says Australians don't have high expectations (or a good sense of humour) :D:D:D:D Danny
  16. The ad says the the car is "unrestored condition unmolested". It's nice paint if it's the original paint job and what are those keys doing hanging out of the dash ?? Don't think much of the hubcap.......... Danny
  17. Ahhhhh !! It was a question of taste !! I was thinking that maybe you Kiwi fullas might not have been cliver enough to build your own bodies like us Aussie blokes did but looking at your parking light lenses I would have to concede that you Kiwis are as good as us Aussies. (Well, nearly anyway:p) It would be interesting to find out what it goes for (if it goes at all). Should you find out, maybe you could post the outcome and let us know. I actually prefer the '39 Holden body over the Fisher. I like the rounder boot area and the different door handles that are in line with the molding. (Something Buick later on used) It would have been nice though if the Holden body had the 1 piece rear window and defroster vents. My '38/60 Holden body even has the camper front seat. Did Fisher ever do that ?? Danny
  18. If you are in Sydney, Australia, I could give you a set. Danny (You might want to put in your location via User CP)
  19. The nuts on those should be vulcanized into the mounts. Maybe a local machine shop could turn up a new set of adjusting screws and lock nuts. They are not very complicated. Danny
  20. I bought quite a few old office metal filing cabinets. Some 3 draws and some 4. Very sturdy and great for holding heavy parts. I have a draw with starters and generators for my '39 and it deals with the weight easily. Tried timber and the weight of buick parts just killed them (that and the mice). Look for old metal office cabinets too. Try doing this with old kitchens drawers. Danny
  21. PM me your address. The few left do have a few spots of rust on them but you're welcome to one. They are better than none Danny
  22. How does the auction sniper "make you" over bid ??? Aren't you the one that sets the amount of your high bid ?? The software only electronically bids what you tell it to do when you tell it to do it. I have found it stops me from getting carried away wth overbidding (auction fever) on something. Set your max at a calm an rational moment and forget about it. I agree it's more fun to sit there with your finger on the mouse watching the seconds tick down but most of the time it's just impossible for me to be at a computer when the auction ends. The biggest time waster on eBay is sitting and waiting for ebaystatic.com to load. Danny
  23. :confused:Wow, you must have a slow postal system  I have contacted the Portholes but got a dead email address. Contacted one of the contacts and was referred along. Yet to here back. I'll try again next week. I sure would like to get a hard copy. Danny
