  1. Hello all, here I am again. Trying a new idea for my 59 Square Bird. I have weak leafs on my rear suspension and am thinking, rather than getting the leafs re-bowed, that maybe I will put Air Bags on the Bird. I've seen a couple of them in some shows, but they were more in the resto-mod category and even though mine is not all original, on the surface it is pretty original. I didn't get a chance to talk to the owners of those cars and I really wanted to find out if the ride changes and their opinions of doing the change to Air Bags. I am also looking for info on some good kits that anyone might have. So, if anyone has any info for me, please email me or reply to my request for info. My car is not a daily driver, even though it could be, I use it more as a weekend driver. I have a 390ci with two 750 Holly Carbs and it does suck a lot of gas.....
  2. Nick, I have a 1927 Dodge Brothers 4 screen (Photos in library). I met a guy at a car show and he told me that he had some parts for a 27 Dodge and wanted to know if I wanted them. Not sure exactly what they are, but I can probably find out and or get you his email address. He was willing to just let me have them, but it was because our 4 screen is used for Public Relations programs for our Sheriff's Department. Let me know if your interested, I think they are parts for the engine and other misc parts. Let me know, you will, undoubtedly, have to pay the shipping and any cost associated with getting them to you. But it looks like you might be able to use whatever you can find. Juan
  3. Jake M Bummer! If you run across another one, let me know!
  4. @ Jack M Is this one still available? What stage is it in now and how much? I'm in Central California, where in Oregon is it? Email me more pics, interior would be nice. Is it drivable?
  5. My horn was restored and worked fine. I rarely used it and it just stopped working. It shows that it is drawing Amps on my Amp meter, but no sound. Are they hard to work on? Also need a Water Pump Wrench, the one that you loosen up the nuts that hold in the water seal rope. Does anyone have one they want to get rid of? Juan
  6. I have a 27 Screen Side that has been restored to a Jail Wagon, as they were used by the department I worked for. Originally it was in the US Army, at the Dos Pueblos POW Camp in Santa Barbara County and was sold to a local rancher as surplus equipment when Camp Cook Army Base was closed in 46. The POW Camp was part of Camp Cook. It was used by the rancher until it died and then left to rot on the ranch. Eventually it was moved to the city where the son had hoped to restore it, but instead was abandon and then Abated by the county. That was when I got involved and after some research, I found that the county actually used these trucks as Jail Transport (Paddy Wagons) to transport sentenced prisoners and had to be transferred to the State Prison system. They were, basically, the Jail Buses of that era. Anyway....do you have any pictures?
  7. Does anyone have a spare Water Pump Wrench for a 1927 Dodge Brothers Screen Side that you might like to get rid of? Email me and advise on the price. Also, is it difficult to fix and or adjust the horn. My horn used to work fine, hardly ever used it and now it won't make any sound. The Amp Meter shows that it is drawing voltage, but no sound. Thanks
  8. Hey! Minicoopergirly..... I have a 1927 Dodge Brothers Screen side, basically the same as what you have, only with a Dodge Brother's Logo on it instead of the Graham Brothers logo. Attached are some photos of our truck, more can be found in the gallery or if you send me an email request I will forward what ever I have. We do have some misc parts. Our restoration was a ground up with both left untouched and was completed in 2001. It is restored as a Paddy Wagon as this was the type of transportation truck our department used to transport prisoners to State prison from county jail. Good luck on the project.
  9. I have a handful of, misc. small parts for a 1948 Austin A40 4 dr. They came from an old project of mine and they turned up while I was cleaning up my garage. Figured I would put them on the page and see if anyone might be interested. I'm sure we can come up with a good deal. Located in California, Central Coast. You can email me me at juantejeda@yahoo.com
  10. Found it! It's just a foot rest, not original.... kinda dumb, if you ask me, maybe the owner had a short leg : ).
  11. Ran across this picture of a 27 DB Screen Side. In looking at the pictures I noticed that it has one extra pedal that my Screen Side does not have. I would like to know what it's for. Can anyone one, please, enlighten me????? Lower right side of floor Board.
  12. Looking for a pair of Head Lamp lenses. I have plain glass and would like to find a pair of original lenses or at least something close. If anyone has a pit, please email me. Thank you
  13. Thanks for the reply and info. As explained, the one I would like to try is the 1960, where it is all done from the driver's position. I had seen that one work, but not on a T-Bird, I saw it on the Fairlane with the flip top. It just seems like it would be a better system to open and secure the Hood. Seems like I am always having to touch-up around the hood. If you didn't have to slam the hood to close it it would really be great. All I need to do is find and adapt those screws to the hood. Just seems like it would work.
  14. OK, let me ask another question. Does anyone know where I can purchase the Original type, electric trunk latches that secure the rear trunk lid on the 1958, 59 or 60 convertible Squarebirds? I need two, the male and female end of the latch. Photos of what I am trying to replace on my hood.
  15. Hello all! Happy New Year.... I want to convert my Hood latches on my 59 Squarebird into electric latches, basically the same as the ones that hold down the trunk lid on the convertibles. Was wondering if anyone has done or attempted this? Will the Worm drives that are used for the trunk lids, maybe work for this conversion? If not, can anyone advise on where I might find some that will work. Juan
  16. I guess I should add that, after the show when I drove the truck back to the trailer, I didn't hear noise or feel anything in the pedal. I will have it checked out and the driving I do is very minimal. Usually only from trailer to where it's going to be parked. Once in awhile we do parades, but not that often. I will make sure we check it out ASAP. Thank you all for your input. Think I'll start by making sure that the bearing gets some nice fresh grease.....
  17. @Texacola......I believe we came up with the drive train being assembled in 26 and the truck coming off the assembly line in October of 27 and the truck not being registered until 28. But whatever it was, now I know why the Spokes are different. I kinda like that bolt on the Spoke and makes it look a little stronger, but I was just trying to figure out why they were different. I'll post a picture of the truck they are on, it's pretty nice and is an ambulance. It belongs to San Luis Ambulance, in San Luis Obispo, CA.
  18. This is a picture of the spokes on my Four Screen (1927 Dodge Brothers). The above wheel is on a 1925 Dodge Brothers. As you can see the Spokes are different. My only question is; Are they both correct and if they are, which one is or was an option. As I state above, my drums do have the holes for the bolt through the Spoke.
  19. The sound, at this point, is just a rattling sound, not very loud, but definitely a sound that was not there the last time I drove the truck. I heard it when I engaged the clutch pedal and I could feel a slight vibration on the pedal as I engaged and held the clutch down to put the truck in gear. Could it be that the clutch bearing needs a little grease?
  20. Can anyone tell me what year(s) these were used on Dodge Brothers trucks and which models? I have a 1927 Four Screen and it does not have this type of spokes. I noticed that my brake drums have the holes for the bolt and I would like to know if these were an option or came out in a different year. Juan
  21. Just noticed a Nose coming from the clutch when I engaged it this last time I took it to a show. Fortunately I only drive it from the trailer to where it was displayed, but I did notice the nose when I first started to drive it out of the trailer and I engaged the clutch. I haven't checked it out as of yet, but if anyone has anything that might help, it would be appreciated. It's on a 1927 Dodge Brothers Four Screen. Drive train was assembled in 26, the truck came off the assembly line in late 27. Thanks Juan
  22. Thanks, I will try Ace Hardware, they seem to have a large selection of nuts and bolts. Just didn't think of them. I'll just pull one of the other Bolts off to check the size. Thanks!
  23. I need a couple of Fender Bolts, Washers and Nuts for a 1927 Dodge Brothers Four Screen. If someone has some bolts they would like to sell or donate.... I would appreciate it. Let me know what you want for them. Thanks Juan
  24. I have a 1927 Dodge Brothers Four Screen, Paddy / Jail Wagon.
  25. Can anyone tell me if it's worth the effort to try and fix my horn? It does not make any sound at all. When I press the horn button the Amp meter indicates that power is being used, but I have no sound. Can these horns be repaired or is it easier to just find a replacement?
