  1. @ Ray, Sounds reasonable to me. I am already looking at replacing the Condenser. Pretty sure I already have a standby. I will get that done ASAP and see what happens. Thanks
  2. I don't think it's the angle as the missing and backfire is continuing as I drive on , pretty much the flat street surface with hardly any angle, if any. I recently had the generator rebuilt and according to my meter it is working fine, plenty of charge while at idle. I didn't notice any drop when the backfiring and missing occurs. Kinda feels like the timing is off, but should I be able to adjust that with the lever at the steering column? I have always been told that, Up advances the spark and down retards the spark. Is this right or wrong. HELP!
  3. Hello all, I need some advice. Took the Dodge to a car show today and all of a sudden, as I was backing it out of the trailer, it started backfiring. I tried adjusting at the advance lever steering column, but it seemed to not help. Any ideas?
  4. Hello, I need some parts for my horn, Steering Wheel side. I need the three insulated washers that hold the base plate (triangle shaped) that holds everything together. I also need the last part that those three screws bolt into, as one of the holes seems to be stripped. I am attaching some pictures of the parts.
  5. You need to do it from a New Reply. Start the New Reply and then go down to the Attach Files under the Additional Options section.
  6. Got a friend looking for an NA 440. If anyone has one For Sale, let me know where and how much. Thanks.
  7. Figured you were. That stuff is hard to find. I am always looking for stuff too. I was involved in the restoration of a 28 DB back in 87, when I was still working as a Deputy Sheriff. I am now retired and now take care of the restoration. I donate my time to take it around to car shows and displays. Hard to believe I've been involved with this project for over 20 years. The project was completed with out spending a dime of tax payer monies, all donations! The restoration was done by the inmates at the California Men's Colony in San Luis Obispo, through their Vocational Education Department. We supplied the parts, they supplied the labor or love. I still actively seek grants and donations as our county won't budget any funds for the upkeep and Lord knows it's always an on going project! Anyway, I'll keep my eyes open for you. I attend a few local, all law enforcement shows and there are usually old police cars. Let me know what you need and I'll watch for them. I can be reached, best, by email; juantejeda@yahoo.com. Here is a picture of our Paddy Wagon.
  8. Try getting hold of this Facebook page; https://www.facebook.com/groups/105008507506/ This should take you to, Friends of the California Law Enforcement Historical Society, They are a California Museum and they may be able to point you in the right direction.
  9. My 59 Thunderbird just got home from the Transmission Shop where it was getting some needed repairs. This morning I took it to our weekly gathering of the Pismo Donut Derelicts, here in Pismo Beach, CA. Sun is shining, weather if nice and warm. The Pismo Derelicts are a group of car enthusiast that gather every Saturday morning at a local Strip Mall, by a donut shop. No club, no rules, just a bunch of guys and gals and their cars, talking shop. This morning we had about 120-150 cars.
  10. I've decided to put my 1959 Thunderbird Coupe on the market. I am asking $18K, but I will entertain any REASONABLE offer. It is an, approximate, 12 year old, ground up restoration, by Jim Jacobs out of Prescott, Arizona. Restored as a mild mod, 60's style. Mint Green exterior with dark and light upholstery. Original radio has been upgraded to Digital AM/FM in original case, all buttons work! Chromed Spoke wheels in fair condition. Engine is an upgraded 63 HD 390 ci with an .030 overbore, Edlebrock lifters and twin 4bbl Holly's. Shelby style Valve cover with Thunderbird signature logo, matching Shelby style Oil Pan. If it's not chromed it's probably painted to accent color of car. Fresh Transmission, just rebuilt. New battery. Car is in great shape! Can be seen on CarDomain, http://www.cardomain.com/ride/833127/1959-ford-thunderbird or send email and I can forward pictures. ARC, 45 RPM Record Player (unrestored) under dash, case has been re-chromed and ready for restoration, mounted for show only.
  11. All done, got it back today! Drove to home and seems to be just fine! Ended up rebuilding it and cost was just under $1700. Think I am going to put it up for sale, again. Will be asking $18,000, but will entertain reasonable offers. It is an approximate 12 year old, ground up restoration, mild custom with an upgraded 63 HD 390 ci, with dual Holly Carbs. All Shelby Dress-up on Valve covers, Air Cleaner and Oil Pan. Fresh Transmission, newer battery. Radio is an original that has been converted to Digital AM/FM, a 45RPM ARC Record Player (unrestored) under dash, Spoked Wheels. Mint Green. Photos on CarDomain, http://www.cardomain.com/ride/833127/1959-ford-thunderbird or email at juantejeda@yahoo.com for any questions.
  12. Pics please, if you still have the Express Boxes, juantejeda@yahoo.com Thanks
  13. Thanks! Just looking for ideas on making the seating a little more comfortable. Seems like the bench seat has very little cushion.
  14. Looking for some pictures of the interior of a 1918 C Cab truck. I am looking at buying a Hot Rod that has the C Cab as the body. The interior is not original and I would like to see what an original interior and seat looks like. Any pictures would be great.
  15. OK, I have dropped the Bird off at the Tranny Shop. I am probably going to go with a re-build VS replacing it with a C6, unless someone can convince me that it's a really good idea. Just don't know how much more work it will cause to do a conversion. I am going to try and help on the repair and install as much as I can. The mechanic is a personal friend and I am sure he will let me get in the way. Any info on a conversion will be appreciated.
  16. Thanks for this info, I'm getting ready to do mine also.
  17. My DB Four Screen is a registered 28. The ID plate shows it to have come off the line in Oct 1927 and I have been told that it appears to be a 1926. If you have any pictures of the Four Screens for those 3 years, I would love to see pictures. Thanks!
  18. Thanks for your input and usually when I order parts I try and send a picture of the part I need. So far I haven't had any problems with the parts I get. I agree that my registration as a 28 has probably to do with the fact that it was a military Surplus vehicle. I wish I could trace it's actual military heritage. It would be nice to know where it was at and what unit t was associated with.
  19. As far as mine goes, it is what it is.... As far as registration goes it is a 28 DB Fours Screen Express. I won't be changing what CA DMV has decided to call it. It looks like a Duck, Smells like a Duck and Quacks like a Duck....It's a Duck!
  20. I got it, just hope the people that have questioned whether our truck is a DB or GB read this. As far as I'm concerned and what the research says, it is a 28 Dodge Brothers Four Screen Express! Thank you all!
  21. Thanks for the info. I what I am able to read, the eyes just don't focus like they used to, it seems to me that what I have a a DB Four Screen, probably one of the ones that they continued making under the DB name. Especially since the ID number shows that it came off the assembly line in late 27. I am pretty satisfied that what I have is a DB and that my research was right. Seems to me that the GB were more heavy duty trucks where this four screen is light weight and if I actually measure the wheel base I will find that it is the smaller of the two. Thanks for you info, I appreciate it. Juan
